I’m Stephanie, a Registered Social Worker and founder of Embodied Wisdom. We work in a collaborative way to allow integration to unfold.
I provide somatic, experiential trauma therapy for adults feeling stuck in anxiety, depression, or unresolved trauma. I am a Certified Holistic Nutritional Consultant™ and Registered Social Worker. I believe that food an emotions are deeply entwined, and when we get right down to looking at the roots of issues, understanding our nutrition and imbalances are pivotal to creating a healthy sustainable lifestyle. We can't make good choices if we don't knowhow, or if we believe we can't. I work with people to help develop an understanding of their beliefs around food and finding a way to move toward health in a supportive partnership, not a dictatorship. What often gets labeled as “holding back” in therapy…
is usually something much more intelligent.
A protective part of you doing exactly what it learned to do.
Not because it’s trying to get in the way—
but because it’s trying to keep you within a range that once felt survivable.
It might look like:
• staying in your head
• feeling numb or disconnected
• struggling to notice sensations
• wanting to go slowly…
• or wanting to rush to the finish line
None of this means you’re doing it wrong.
It means your system is paying attention.
In somatic work, we don’t override this.
We get curious about it.
We build safety with it.
We include it.
Because this isn’t the problem.
This is part of the work 🤍

Sometimes it isn’t about finding the right words or doing anything differently.
It’s about being met.
Really met.
And held just as you are.
Because when something inside you is finally witnessed with care,
it doesn’t have to carry itself alone anymore. 🌿

Sometimes the urge to “fix” ourselves comes from a place that learned it wasn’t okay to simply be.
So we try to change, improve, override…
hoping that if we just get it right, something inside will finally settle.
But the body doesn’t respond to pressure.
It responds to being listened to.
And often, what creates movement isn’t force—
it’s the moment something inside you realizes
it no longer has to shout to be heard.
If this resonates, you’re welcome to get curious with me. 🌿

Nervous system work, somatics, and therapy, at their core, are relational practices.
An attuned practitioner won’t ask you to buy into urgency
because urgency works against you unless you're running from a bear.
This work isn’t about rushing or pressure.
It's not about catching you when you're frantic and roping you in.
It’s about creating the conditions where change can happen.
And, that is coming home to what your body already knows.
(I'm also not saying you can only do this work with a practitioner - just to be clear. I'm saying that however you choose to support your system is up to you and doing so because you're worried about missing a deal, that you're broken, or if that trend is really true isn't likely the most supportive foundation.)
This space is for educational and reflective exploration and is not a substitute for therapy or medical care . If you are in need of immediate support, please contact your local helpline.

Hey there,
I see you. the one who desires to be in growth and expansion all the time.
I get it.
Just a reminder that contraction is equally important, and we can be in one or the other continually.
So, take a moment today - let the sun shine on your face just a second longer.
Give yourself permission to curl up with you tea.
Allow yourself permission to contract and restore in whatever way feels accessible for you.
I promise, it's important 🤍
With tenderness,
Your fellow doer - S

Hi, I’m Stephanie 👋🏼
I help people who know better… but their body didn’t get the memo.
You might be the one who:
✨ has all the insight
✨ holds everything together
✨ says “it is what it is”… while feeling internally overwhelmed
You can think your way through it
until suddenly… you can’t.
That push = crash cycle?
Yeah, I know it well (and so does your nervous system).
My work isn’t about working harder.
It’s about supporting your system to embody the change you’re already trying to make.
Also… I’m a real human, and I personally know this work too.
I’ll probably talk with my hands, not get my words quite right, laugh with you, and feel with you.
And, I'll never expect you to push past your capacity.
If this feels like you
you’re in the right place. 🤍
Welcome home.

You know that moment when you try to think your way out of anxiety…
but your body refuses to listen?
You tell yourself,
“I’m safe. There’s nothing to worry about.”
But your heart keeps racing.
Your chest feels tight.
Your body still thinks you’re in danger.
Because anxiety isn’t just in the mind.
Your body is trying to speak.
And sometimes trusting this begins when we stop arguing with the body
and start listening to it.

Have you ever noticed how quickly you feel a shift in the room?
Before a word is spoken, you’ve already sensed the tension and adjusted your tone to keep things steady. It’s an automatic reflex, reading the "emotions" of the people around you to make sure everyone else is okay.
But when so much of your energy is directed outward, your own internal signals can get very quiet. It’s not that your feelings disappeared; there just wasn't much space for them to exist.
If this feels familiar, here is a gentle perspective for today:
You don’t have to be the one who carries the weight of everyone’s emotional world. It is okay to let that "scanning" rest for a moment.
Sometimes, the most supportive thing you can do is turn that observation inward and simply ask: “What is happening in my own body right now?”
It’s okay if the answer is quiet at first. You’re just getting reacquainted with your own experience.
