What an October…

Thanks to all who wished me a HBD, but I am not sure how October can get any better.

Family and Friends allowed me to experience a bucket list golf trip to . Followed that up with a National Touch Football Championship playing with .pacas. Not many get to fly and land on water, but my workout buddy and neighbour .zer0 showed me the Skyline of the TDot after landing on lake Scugog.

Throw in more golf, more football, and some early morning workouts and you have a recipe for living the dream.

Going to enjoy today with some family golf. is off for reading week, and will have to endure being my partner.

Thanks to all. I doubt November can get any better, but I am willing to give it a shot.

Finally….
25+ years of trying, but what a great accomplishment.
The best feeling was the way I witnessed .pacas not only play with tremendous skill and poise, but more importantly lead a group the way he did. Brae led teammates who have been playing for longer than he has been alive.
It took all 19 players to make this year happen. Injuries, work conflicts, family events and illness put everyone in different roles at different times. Congrats to all who sacrificed playing time and ego for the betterment of the TEAM.
To all my previous teammates, I also share this with you. Throughout my years, I have had fabulous teammates on every team I have played with. Trojans, Gaels, KI, Spartans, and Hounds are all teams I also want to Thank. You take knowledge and experience from every year and every Championship and then try and use it when it counts.
Winning is special especially with my son, but I think everyone along the way shares in my happiness today.
I took the trophy home and will put it in the weight room downstairs as I look forward to training harder for another opportunity next year.

Show me your last couple of purchases….

I must say that when I hear that doorbell ring, I run for the door. More fitness equipment is usually the response I get. I am like a kid on Christmas, but to me, it is a small price to pay for wellness.

A few different slant board options from , a strap or two from and a few pickleball raquets and balls has me good until at least August. 🎯

I will be shooting some new videos especially targeting exercise options for those like me who need to work on their ankle dorsiflexion. I have been using the different versions of the slant boards and already see the improvement.

Issue #2 is the disassociation between upper and lower extremities for golf and that will be my afternoon lesson using my new straps.

As much as I was resident to pickleball, I quickly changed my mind the 1st time I tried it.

I continue to strive for value in all my programming for clients. Research and Development is an everyday occurrence.

If we continue to move well, we don’t have to pass on activities where so many great memories are created. Play football or golf or whatever instead of watching football, golf or whatever. Move well and wake up ready to take on your next challenge. Move poorly and your options become limited.

You can’t get back time……

Fitness in a Bag was never to replace a gym or a trainer but to enhance both.

Some days you need the motivation of a leader to push you or have fitness equipment or protocols you won’t do on your own.

BUT, how about those other days when 1/2 an hour of travel to the gym or to your trainer both ways is an hour of time that can be spent on an exercise routine done on your time, where ever you DESIRE.

Here is my 1st WHAT IF of many to come;

Take care of those dogs………

What other structure puts all of its weight on a few smaller areas?

I encourage all my athletes to put a recovery ball (lacrosse, acuball or even a golf ball) in their sports bag and roll out them dogs prior too and especially after the practice or game.

Understand where the delicate areas of your feet are located as our gait patterns are so different. Some pronate, some supinate, some walk on their toes, and many (like me) do a combination of all of the above😩.

Just give your feet some love and they will Thank You with better performance🎯

No Fitness posts today because this beauty turned the big 19 today.
We had to wait a few holes to enjoy the birdie juice, and almost had eagle juice on Hole 10, but Cullen’s putt missed by an inch.
Crazy how time flies but continue to be you.

Congrats to Anytime you get selected in the NFL draft it must be special, but a 3rd round selection to the Arizona Cardinals must be an unbelievable feeling.
Isiah ( #90) in this picture was in Grade 7 and was a very skilled Offensive Tackle for the Pickering Dolphins. I happened to be the Offensive Co-ordinator for that season. I believe Isiah could have also been a great TE.
Congrats also to for creating a culture to allow those who want to take their game to the next level to flourish.
The only thing that would have made it a little bit more special was if he went to the Cowboys😩.

Steven Stamkos started it all…..
When Steven was back in Grade 7 and playing for the Markham Waxers I had the pleasure of training their hockey team over the summer.
Not that different than today, many players had similar commitments. Baseball, Soccer, Lacrosse, Spring/Summer Hockey, Cottages and Family Holidays.
The Waxers were a special team and won almost every game that year. However, typical attendance in the summer for dryland training was 8 or 9 players out of a team of 17.
I love the fact that the players were doing different things (other sports) but I was frustrated that the team was never fully together. There are always lots of subtle messages that come out of training sessions.
The next summer was unleashed.
Now, players can do the programs when it fits into their schedule. If they are going up to a cottage, they can do the workout on their dock. If they are playing lacrosse at night when their team has dry land training, players can do the workout in the morning.

Fitness in a Bag has evolved over time. 21 portable items are now in the Bag and programs can be sent directly to your phone, tablet or computer.
Entire spring/summer programs are available.

May not happen, but how nice would it be to see in the Blue and White next year. A true class act, and competitor but even a better leader.
