Superimposition is a multi-artist show featuring community members who attended Wellness Network's art-based Recovery College course of the same name. These courses run multiple times throughout the year and provide those with lived experiences of mental health or addictions a chance to explore creativity in a supportive and collaborative environment. Participants attend 10 weekly sessions covering many different themes and techniques associated with Collage and Mixed-Media Art.

Much like the course, the show places an emphasis on expression through Collage and Mixed-Media art. This collection is curated to display a wide cross-section of artists with varying artistic experience levels across different mediums. The styles explored in the course that have been selected for this exhibit include surrealism, dada, decollage, and zines. This unique exhibit provides a platform for artists who normally wouldn't have the opportunity to display their work publicly. Enjoy the wonder of what can be created when a community focused on wellness comes together to express their lived-experiences through art.

Join us Friday June 6th for the grand opening of the exhibit. Doors to the Muttart Theatre open at 7pm for a panel discussion followed by a performance from local act Pearly Moon at 8pm. *Gallery exhibit is located in the Reading Room on the second floor of Stanley Milner.

We're a little late on posting about Movember, but we figured it's never too late to talk about Men's Mental Health.

-In Canada, 3 out of 4 deaths by su***de are men.

-Su***de is the second leading cause of death among Canadian males aged 15–44 years.

Unfortunately, many men still suffer in silence and we'd like to change that. Check in on your friends from time to time and encourage them to speak up about whatever issues they may be facing. It's time we normalized open discussions surrounding mental health among males.

We've compiled a small list of resources on the third slide for anyone of any gender who is currently struggling.

We'd also like to spread the word about our partner Momentum Counselling who run an amazing weekly men's group, delivered both virtually and in-person.

Topics vary from week-to-week, but you can expect to talk about coping with relationship breakdown, crisis, anger, stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, identity, grief, and healthy relationships. You can share as much or as little as you want, everyone is given the opportunity to speak.

Anchor men's group has been running since February 2014 and is facilitated by Dr David St. Arnault, Ph.D., Registered Psychologist, Nathan Foerger and Dennis Barrie, Registered Provisional Psychologists, Mallik Dhadwal, Jeremy Layton & Adam Hughes, Mental Health Therapists and supported by a counselling intern.

You can register by visiting www.momentumcounselling.org

Take care of one another and know that you're not alone.

In a world that's ever focused on productivity, let's raise awareness to better recognize the importance of mental health in our lives. Both at home and in the workplace!

We are very fortunate at Wellness Network to work in the mental health space and have so many of our colleagues and peers understand the toll poor mental health can have on our work life. For those struggling with this, please reach out and know you are loved. Follow the link in our bio to access our supports and services.
