I’ll be honest, I definitely felt a bit of postpartum after delivering this project to the client. It was my first magnetic knife block, built to hold an 8" chef’s knife, a 2.5" paring knife, and four matching steak knives. The blade design is entirely new, and each one features a gun-blue finish that pairs perfectly with the stag-antler handles, burrs and all. And yes, before you ask, finding antlers in just the right size and shape for each knife was no small task, but I’m pretty happy with how it all turned out.

A father’s gift to his son, this fillet knife features a hybrid handle crafted from big leaf maple burl and metallic blue epoxy. The blade, acid-etched and stonewashed, offers excellent flexibility and has been finely sharpened for precision cutting.

This stunning piece will be featured in a fundraising draw at a private event this weekend. Proceeds will support the Moonraker Bursary, awarded to a student who has shown resilience in the face of family, financial, and personal challenges.

This is a high carbon steel blade made from 80CRV2. I chose Amboyna burl for the handle.
