This pair should've arrived in Norway by now :-)

The first one is an 8-inch hidden tang Santoku, featuring a stunning handle crafted from dark maple burl and copper epoxy hybrid. The second one is a Gyuto with the handle made from a combination of spruce cone and pearl epoxy.

Both fantastic choices by the client!

Kniven er en manns beste venn!

There is something inherently special about hunting knives - a tool that is steeped in tradition and purpose.

Crafted from peices of the client's Father's mandolin, it carries a story far deeper than just it's edge - it's a tribute.

The handle construction features curly maple, reclaimed from the instrument’s body. Then I countersunk two pieces of abalone, shaped into miniature mandolins into the synthetic tortoise-pattern pickguard material - a delicate yet poignant touch and a nod to the mandolin’s original character. A quiet homage to the music, the musician and the history.

Another one of a kind 8" Gyuto style Chef's knife for, you guessed it, a local Chef! This beauty was constructed using Amboyna burl, a southeastern Asian species of hardwood. The blade is 80CRV2 high carbon steel and I added a solid brass bolster polished to a mirror finish. A perfect combination of materials I'd say.

The Puukko sheath knife. Its history dates back to medieval times and the Viking Age. A symbol of Finnish heritage. I made this knife a while back but decided to change the sheath for a more traditional one. I also wanted to compliment the copper features all around.

It is available for purchase. PM me if interested!

Gotta love it how some things come together.

Here is an 8" Gyuto Chef's knife. The blade is 80CRV2 High Carbon steel. I chose spalted Tamarind for the handle scales which sits behind a brass bolster complimented by the "blue, blanc et rouge" colors of the French flag to add a little "je ne sais quoi".

This one will be gifted to a Father from his Son. Zut alors!

A new client of mine was gifted one of my old style bushcrafters a while back and had unfortunately lost it during one of his adventures in the bush... I feel his pain. He recently contacted me and asked that I reproduce the one he had but also to make a matching one for his buddy that originally gifted it to him. What a beautiful gesture of friendship 👏

Here is the matching set. Both with stabilized bird's eye maple handles and with each of their favorite colors integrated into them using blue and yellow G10 liners. To boot is the monogrammed hand-made premium leather dangler sheaths.

The spirit of a blade is said to be formed throughout its creation, but only when it is quenched, does it truly becomes what it is intended to be. This process has taken on a whole new meaning with this blade in particular.

This is a Chinese inspired cleaver with a Brute de Forge finish. This is the first and only one of its kind. It is a gift for the son of a dearly departed family friend and mother. The handle construction is made from spalted tamarind and ancient bog oak. On one side of the blade, you will find my usual makers mark, but on the other side, you'll find a crown. The request was to include a crown, representing the nickname, "my little prince," that his mom called him. You will also notice a small jewel-like peice on the butt of the handle;  this is a small brass tube that contains his mom's ashes, which are encased in epoxy. To be honest, I felt honored to be handling such a precious entity, and the end result resembles a beautiful little pearl, surrounded by gold. This is how I think of my own mom, surrounded by her sons.

This was an absolute pleasure to build, and my only hope is that it lasts for generations.

Here's a pair of hidden tang Kirisutke's from husband to wife. The red handle is a hybrid burl and gold epoxy, and the green one is h**p wood (don't attempt to smoke it... ;-)) with a piece of 7000yr old Bog Oak and a slice of copper for each. Blades are 80CRV2 high carbon steel with an antique finish to bring out the hamon line made during the heat treatment process.

As usual, have a knife week!
