Salt in the diet is a controversial topic of debate in recent years but it may be the type of salt one consumes that is overlooked and not whether or not to include it in a healthy diet. Just as otherwise life-giving grains are often refined to the point of being calories, most commercially produced table salts have been stripped of essential minerals and trace elements the body needs to function properly. In large doses the body cannot properly handle the refined and harsh chemical of pure sodium chloride, especially in the large amounts found in the prepared food diet.
