Our visit to Clayton today was outstanding. A walking tour of the hamlet allowed us to meet the friendly residents and dogs, ensuring the gang had a fantastic time.🧡

To the west of Almonte lies Clayton, a village formerly known as Bellamy’s Mills and Clifton, before its official designation in 1858. The village once featured an array of industrial facilities, including a gristmill, sawmill, carding mills, woollen cloth factory, distillery, hotels, and tannery. Since its establishment in 1839, the traditional general store has been a vital part of the community, remaining a thriving business to this day. The picturesque setting formed by Clayton Lake and the Indian River makes the hamlet a sought-after destination for hiking and walking tours.🧡
