Last week, my business turned 6, and I didn’t post about it. Life happened (as it has for the past six years, lol). But today, I’m taking a moment to reflect because it’s wild to think I’m here.

I don’t post much about my business because after spending so much time on socials for others, my own "social cup" is empty. But this milestone feels too big not to share.

The past six years have been a mix of running a business and navigating life. My mom was diagnosed with cancer (a few times). I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and learned how to manage it. I moved, had a baby, and somehow figured out how to juggle all of it while growing this business.

(Here’s a friendly reminder for anyone in the thick of it: life happens to all of us, and it’s not always easy. But growth can happen even on the hardest days, and looking back, you’ll be amazed at what you’ve accomplished.)

Here’s a quick snapshot of the last six years:
✨ Spoken at 15 events about social media.
✨ Worked with 35+ industries (I only take one client per industry—challenging, but worth it).
✨ Collaborated with clients as far as California, Wisconsin, and the UK.
✨ Honed my skills in paid ads and photography (finally mastered my flash!).
✨ Worked on 40 websites, planned events, and managed BIG PR roles.
✨ Filmed everything from bees to boats to science experiments to HVAC systems. I've learned so much thanks to the people who have let me into their worlds.

But here’s the thing: none of this would’ve been possible without the incredible people who believed in me.

The amount of you who’ve referred me to your friends and family is something I’ll never be able to repay, and it’s the reason I’ve been able to grow and keep going.

When I started, I had no idea it would lead to this. To put it into perspective: I started before Reels were even a thing! This industry has evolved so much—it’s pushed boundaries, forced pivots, and challenged me in ways I never expected.

I’ve learned so many lessons—some the hard way—and every step has been worth it.

To everyone who’s been part of this journey: thank you. It’s been such an incredible ride, and I’m so grateful for you all.

There’s nothing more exhilarating than watching someone discover their true calling.

I’ve been lucky to call Tara a friend for over a decade. We first met in radio, bonding over our mutual love for marketing! Her creativity has always been so inspiring, but what really makes Tara shine is her warmth and kindness. She’s the type of person you can open up to about anything, and she always knows exactly what to say.

So, when she decided to pivot and become a social worker, I knew she’d found her purpose.

Since starting my business 5 years ago, the scope of my work has grown far beyond just social media! When people ask what I do, I often say social media, but in reality, I do so much more.

I primarily work with small to medium-sized businesses, and sometimes their needs go beyond social media. Over time, I’ve expanded my skills in other areas to meet those needs. So, I thought I’d start to share a peek at my daily to-do list — you might just find a service you’ve been looking for!

Back again with my slightly unhinged opinion content ✨

If you’re drafting a newsletter based on what YOU need and not what your AUDIENCE needs… Well I shouldn’t haven’t explain why that’s not gonna have the intended results but I know someone needs this explanation…

If you’re sticking to a newsletter schedule for the sake of checking off a to-do list item every month, this message is for you. Stop what you’re doing if you can’t give your audience something of value in every single one.

Put these newsletters to bed 🛌
Company updates that mean nothing to your audience
Constant sales newsletters
Anything that doesn’t address your clients pain points
Overly frequent emails
Unfocused content
Vague or empty “teaser content” 🤢
Generic industry updates

An increase in newsletters doesn’t = increase in perceived customer value

Newsletters that are business focused:
📉decrease open rates, conversions, engagement, readership, perceived value of your brand and effectiveness of future campaigns

📈 increase unsubscribe rates, time spent on a pointless task, time trying to recapture lost leads and loyal customers and rebuilding brand trust.

Ever felt that sinking feeling when asked to craft a "Did you know" post? Turns out, it's not just you—it's science. Research shows viewers tend to scroll past it.

So, if engagement's lacking, start by axing "Did you know" from your vocabulary. If you're questioning its relevance, chances are your audience is too.

If you can't figure out a better way to make your post more engaging start by just dropping "Did you know" from your caption. If you have to ask them they probably don't.

Great news! We now take custom orders.
(We told them we do custom and we made it sound like it's new because it probably new to whoever is reading it, if we haven't done a great job at conveying the information)

(Better because we reinforced the messaging with a real story and image, we let our audience know they can bring their creative ideas to us and we can make it happen.)
