EAT ACCORDING TO YOUR GENES🧬

Did you know that your genes can help to determine the best diet for you?
It’s true! 🧬
Nutrigenomics is the science that studies the interaction between the nutrients we eat and our genes. Knowing more about your unique genetic makeup can help you find the optimal diet for your health, wellness, and even your fitness!

With a Nutrigenomix test, you can learn:

✔ What nutrients you should focus on in your diet to best meet your unique needs
✔ How to eat to reach your performance, weight loss, or body composition goals
✔ Information about your fitness strengths or areas to improve upon, as well as your risk for injury and tips to prevent or manage it. Contact me for more information.

Are you getting enough folate in your diet?
Folate is a B-vitamin that plays an essential role in cell growth & repair, red blood cell production, & supporting brain & heart health. It also helps maintain healthy energy levels & is especially important during periods of rapid growth, stress, & pregnancy. Some people are at higher risk of folate deficiency than others, especially if they’re not eating enough folate-rich foods!

Research has shown that the amount of folate that is absorbed into the blood can differ between individuals even when the same amount of folate is consumed. This difference can be attributed to variations in the MTHFR gene.

The MTHFR gene regulates the production of enzymes that are involved in folate usage in the body. People with the CT and TT variant of this gene have impaired enzyme activity, which can make it harder for them to keep their folate levels in an optimal range. These individuals need to ensure they are consistently getting enough folate in their diet.

What’s the real deal with caffeine? Is a cup of coffee in the morning ok, or should it be avoided?

The answer may be in your genes!

Caffeine (from coffee, tea, energy drinks, or pre-workout supplements) is metabolized in the liver by an enzyme that is responsible for breaking down caffeine in our bloodstream. There are two different types of ‘caffeine metabolizers’ - you’re either fast or slow!

‘Slow’ metabolizers need to be more careful about their caffeine consumption. More than 200mg (equivalent to 2 small cups of coffee) per day has been shown to increase their risk of heart disease and high blood pressure.

‘Fast’ caffeine metabolizers on the other hand can consume up to 400mg of caffeine (equivalent to 4 small cups of coffee) per day, with no increased risk of heart disease.

If you love your coffee and want to know how much caffeine YOU can have each day (in addition to 70 other genetic insights!), contact me to schedule your Nutrigenomix test today!

Are you part of the 3AM Club?
If you find yourself wide awake at 3am wondering, “What is going on with my body?” — you’re in the right place.
This group was created as a safe, supportive space for women navigating the often confusing and overwhelming changes that come with perimenopause, menopause, and beyond.
Whether you’re dealing with:
😴 Trouble sleeping (hello, 3am…)
🌫️ Brain fog, forgetfulness, or trouble focusing
😤 Mood swings, irritability — or full-blown menopause rage that comes out of nowhere
🌡️ Hot flashes and night sweats disrupting your day and your sleep
😰 Chronic stress, anxiety, or feeling emotionally on edge
😣 Digestive issues that leave you bloated and uncomfortable
💤 Fatigue that just won’t lift
⚖️ Weight gain that doesn’t make sense — or difficulty losing weight despite doing “all the right things”
🤷‍♀️ Or just feeling “off” and not quite like yourself...
👉 You are not imagining it — and you don’t have to figure it all out alone.
I’m Lisa Horne, a Registered Holistic Nutritionist with a strong focus on menopause and hormonal health.
My approach is rooted in real-life, sustainable solutions that support every aspect of your health — not just your symptoms. I look at the full picture: nutrition, gut health, sleep, stress, and lifestyle — because menopause affects so many parts of your well-being.
I created this group because too many women are left without answers or support when they need it most. 🌙
