I am definitely missing out this one!

Education, education, education!

Education, education, education!

Education is very important. 🤓👍
Let’s educate ourselves and the Physiotherapy students less about heat, ultrasound, electrotherapy, posture assessment, etc...
and more about the things the modern physiotherapist needs: communication/people skills, exercise therapy, clinical reasoning, EBP, being comfortable with uncertainty.
What do you think?
About which other topics do you feel you need to learn more?
Let us know! 😊
We try to help physiotherapists to become better on these topics and more through our lectures on Trust me-ED. I hope you like them as much as I do. 🤓👍

It is frequently the case that those people with complex health and pain presentations also carry with them complex past and present life circumstances. To be sure, this isn’t always the case, but most healthcare providers would agree it occurs often. I wanted to highlight here that many of the features seen above can exist BEFORE the presence of pain or a health condition.

These factors MAY then predispose the nervous system to a more sensitized state, where maladaptive responses to injury/health condition are much easier and more likely to occur.

This shouldn’t really be all that surprising. In fact many of those things shown above can be present for years, giving the nervous system time to prime itself for changes necessary to create a blown out of proportion response. Over protection 101. Like a lion patiently waiting in the long grass.

What’s even more fascinating to me are the individuals who may share many of the features listed above, yet won’t be any more at risk for maladaptivity or sensitivity. What might be different about these people? Why can some cope so well under difficult circumstances while others seemingly spiral out of control?

What do you think?

I love the uncertainty.

Make moves.
