Did you know?? Our office building used to be home to The Deacon Shirt Company (later Deacon Brothers Ltd) who supplied the Canadian military with shirts during the First World War!

In the post-war years, the company’s staple orders – Boy Scout shirts and raincoats for the Canadian army – were replaced by golf jackets, children’s snowsuits and down-filled outerwear.

"You teach REAL yoga" was one of the best pieces of feedback I've received recently, and it's come up a few times.

But what does it mean?

It came from clients who thought that yoga had to be serious and controlled all of the time.

It came from folks who were afraid that their lack of yoga knowledge would make them stand out in the studio.

It came from people who were afraid that taking an extra child's pose would be frowned upon, or who were ashamed of their inflexibility and shaking muscles.

The truth?

✨We laugh in yoga, it's part of the magic.

✨We're all learning more about our practice and our bodies, every time we show up on the mat, myself included.

✨Listening to your body and taking those extra child's poses is a way of showing that you are tuning into yourself which is a BIG PART OF THE PRACTICE.

There's no pretending, just a good open hearted willingness to meet ourselves and eachother exactly where we're at- and we do it together.

We have the sweetest community members. We are always so touched by the thoughtful way our community members support each other (us included.)

Today, we received a brand new gorgeous orchid to bring a little more ‘bloom’ to our mantelpiece… it’s in good company with our original orchids that were gifted to us at our open house in December.

No, gifts won’t earn you special treatment (ie: chair pose exemptions or one fewer sun salutation) but, you’ll rest in knowing that you have brought a smile to our faces and helped brighten up the space for all.

Did you know that our space is held as a personal-scent-free environment, which is an intentional choice rooted in the teachings of the yamas and niyamas.

Through ahimsa (non-harming), we recognize that strong scents can impact others’ ability to breathe, settle and feel at ease.

By choosing to arrive without heavy perfumes or strong fragranced products on our bodies, we practice saucha (purity and clarity), creating a space that is clean, neutral, and supportive for all bodies and sensitivities.

This is a shared practice of awareness and respect, an invitation to move beyond personal preference and into collective care, so everyone can fully arrive, breathe deeply, and be present.
