The Peace of Wild Things When despair for the world grows in me and I wake in the night at the least sound in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be, I go and lie down where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds. I come into the peace of wild thing...

My online winter retreat is only 11 days away, and runs February 18-22, 2026. The theme is 'embracing the darkness and welcoming the light' -- an apt focus to navigate the darkness of this time of year, as well as the challenges we face in our lives, and in the world. How do we turn towards that which is fearful and uncertain, and yet hold it in a bigger container of presence, equanimity, gratitude and love?

This retreat will have multiple Zoom based gatherings of formal practice, teaching, as well as opportunities for questions and sharing. Between formal sessions, there will be ample opportunity for rest, reflection and integration.

If you have not signed up already, I invite you to join me for this 5 day transformative experience. For more information, and to register, please go to:

Faced with the difficulty inherent in the world, and in our lives, it is easy to feel the dense weight of sadness, fear and despair. And feel these we must if we are to honour the caring that binds each of us to each other, and to all of Life.

Gratitude does not deny hardship, but rather holds it in a bigger container. It asserts the blessing amidst, and alongside, the challenge.

Gratitude is a testament to the light that is framed and birthed by darknes

And so it begins. While I have been teaching midnfulness and meditation for over 22 years this is my first foray into sharing this work with a wider audience. I hope that you will join me for this conversation and this practice. Every few weeks we will be offering another video teaching meditaton and mindfulness practices to bring into your personal and professional lives. In addition I will weave in poetry, narrative and humor in order to allow this content to be both accessible and engaging. Thanks for joining me!

As you cultivate inner peace, outer peace arises in your relationships, and in how you meet the world.

As you cultivate self love, you are able to experience and deepen into love in relationship, and to sow seeds of love in all that you do.

What you nourish within you — consciously or unconsciously — will inevitably germinate, expressing itself in your thoughts, words and actions. This is your offering and legacy of being in the world. It is how we heal, and it is how we hurt. It is what will reflect back upon your own life in perfect resonance. You reep what you sow.

Happy New Years! At this time of new beginnings it is common to make 'resolutions' -- to resolve towards healthy eating, physical activity, better communication, learning an instrument... etc. When our goals are not specifically met we easily feel disappointment at best and, at worst, shame or guilt... We set up the target, and then shoot the arrow.

Resolutions for many of us carry a strong whiff of non-acceptance -- a lacking in ourselves only to be fulfilled upon the completion of whatever goal(s) we set, which then becomes its own lacking until the next goal is achieved,... and so on.

I choose rather to make intentions. For me it is a softer language, though not without equal commitment. I intend to finish my book, to be active in nature, and to communicate more skillfully not because I am lacking in any way, but because this is a genuine honouring of the truth of who I am and what I long to manifest in the world. My intention is an act of love, rather than one of fear.

I invite you to join me for the upcoming virtual winter retreat February 18-22, 2026. This is a time to go in and in, so that you can integrate the truth of all that you discover into a life of authenticity and love. The five days will include formal sessions of sitting meditation, talks on various aspects of practice and its integration, and exercises of reflection. Consider creating a quiet space for yourself, either at home or at a rented space, in order to embody the precepts of silence, simplicity, solitude and sanctity that retreat invites. All are welcome to this retreat.

You are not your stories. Your stories offer context and color to your life, but are not actually You. A river is not defined by the descriptions, judgements or narratives we have about it. A river is a river. It twists and turns in its flows, ever following its nature until it reaches the ocean.

When you mistakenly identify with your stories you suffer. Your wholeness exists before and beyond the circumstances, blessings and tragedies you encounter.

Who are you when all of your accomplishments, accumulations and opinions fall away?
