Remember that you are holy. Be your best you this holiday season. ❤️🎄

Happy holidays, everyone. :))

When you hug a tree at the Royal Botanical Gardens Winter Wonders Event, it lights up. And when it does, something shifts in your heart.

I hugged this tree, and as I did I made it a promise to do better. We need to look after our trees. We need to do better.

A big thank you to whomever gifted me these flip flops. I’ll enjoy wearing them as soon as the snow melts. :))

I love reading about yoga history and philosophy. This page sheds light on the origin of set Sun Salutations practiced in many yoga lineages.

I can appreciate this uncovering of origins may be disappointing for some, but for me, it makes the transnational tapestry that we know as yoga even more interesting. 🙂 It’s okay. It really is.

From Mark Singleton’s Yoga Body: The Origins of Modern Posture Practice, 2010, 124.

Flowers always make me happy, especially when the colours are as magical as these.

As I have been learning in the RSMTT, part of the practice of Instinctive Meditation is embracing all the senses. Rather than withdrawing from them as in other approaches to meditation, we invite all that arrives in this human experience. Welcoming all our perceptions and sensations means that even the most simple activities, like walking through a market, become a walking meditation.

And colours from flowers like these make us smile even more. 🙂

These days I often whisper these verses to myself while walking. Give it a try and see what happens. :)

Verse 44

Rivers of power flowing everywhere.
Fields of magnetism relating everything.
This is your origin. This is your lineage.

The current of creation is right here,
Coursing through subtle channels,
Animating this very form.
Follow the gentle touch of life,
Soft as the footprint of an ant,
As tiny sensations open to vastness.

Power sings as it flows,
Electrifies the organs of sensing,
Becomes liquid light,
Nourishes your entire being.
Celebrate the boundary
Where streams join the sea,
Where body meets infinity.

From Dr. Lorin Roche’s The Radiance Sutras: 112 Gateways to the Yoga of Wonder and Delight. Sounds True, 2014.

Yesterday I had the honour of guiding a wonderful group of women through a Fall into Balance workshop . The workshop, inspired by Ma Durga and the fall equinox, was an invitation to welcome all aspects of ourselves through asana, meditation and thoughtful conversation. I feel so grateful to have lead this experience.

A huge thank you to all who attended and to Celine Ratcliffe for hosting the event. Hopefully, it is the first on many.

I love the fall. I just find the colour palette so refreshing. Fall just seems to have its own kind of fire.

Join me for a restful workshop this fall. Tend to your inner fire in preparation for the winter season. I would love to see you there. :)

I'm so excited to be offering a workshop at my dear friend, Celine Ratcliffe's geodesic dome this fall. Please visit https://gatheringspace.ca/ to register and to see all that is being offered in this wonderful space.

Fall into Balance :)

Fall is a wonderful time to reflect on the year thus far, to let go of things that are no longer serving us, and to rebalance in preparation for the winter season. This fall equinox, join me amongst the fall colours, in the sacred space of the dome, for a yoga and meditation workshop that refreshes the spirit and soothes the soul. This workshop begins with a slow yoga practice followed by an open, natural meditation inspired by teachers Dr. Lorin Roche and Camille Maurine. The practice will conclude with some integration time walking in the woods and a warm cup of tea. Time to make notes in a journal or simply rest is also provided throughout the workshop. Fall into balance with me!

What to bring: a mat, journal, pen/pencil, comfortable shoes and an open heart 😊

We have been lucky this summer to experience some beautiful views of Lake Erie. Just a little bit of rest before September hits and the world gets crazier than it already is. :)
