As the days grow shorter and the nights stretch longer, finding ways to nurture your inner light and support your mental well-being is essential. While festive Christmas lights can brighten up the outside, here are some soul-soothing activities to boost your mood this winter:

-Read content that uplifts your mind and heart – Dive into books or articles that inspire self-growth or mindfulness.

-Take a warm, mindful bath – Use this time to relax, reflect, and release tension. Add calming scents like lavender for an extra touch of comfort.

-Spend quality time with loved ones – meaningful connections can work wonders for your mental health.

This winter, let self-care and joy guide you through the season!

During the holiday hustle and bustle, it’s easy to forget that rest is essential—not a luxury. Taking time to pause, recharge, and unwind is a crucial act of self-care that could be just the gift you need this holiday season!

When you rest, you reduce stress, improve focus, and replenish the emotional energy needed to enjoy the season fully. So, this holiday, give yourself the gift of rest—it’s a step towards showing up as your best self for you and your loved ones.

Holidays bring many families together and can be a joyous time for most. However, sometimes families can be a bit overbearing, even if their intentions are not bad.

Setting boundaries with family members may seem like a selfish thing to do, but it will actually strengthen your relationships and help avoid resentment in the long run.

As we head into the Thanksgiving long weekend, keep these tips in mind when you are communicating with loved ones.

Today is which means it's a great time to remind everyone to check in on friends and family, spend time outdoors, set boundaries and reach out to someone (friends, family, doctor, therapist etc.) if you need help. Always remember there are resources readily available.

And if you're experiencing a mental health crisis, call 911 or 310-6789. The Crisis Centre of BC offers community support through crisis intervention and su***de prevention lines.

Fall is a great time of year to go outside. The weather is changing, the leaves are falling, and every day is different. With so much to see and notice, it's the perfect chance to practice being mindful while out.

Ask yourself does the air feel crisp and cool? Does the sun feel warm on your skin? Is there a breeze? Are the leaves on the trees still green and fresh, or have they started to turn to reds and yellows?

Whatever you focus on, stay present and in the moment. The more you practice mindfulness in moments of calm, the more readily accessible the skills are to you when you need them.

Back to school can be a time of anxiety for many kids, and it makes sense - there are a lot of unknowns and changes with teachers, friends, classmates, curriculum, etc. But it's important to remember that all these changes continue to evolve throughout the year.

Friendships change, new subjects are introduced, and higher skill levels are expected. School can play a huge factor in your child's emotional well-being, so it's important parents watch for signs of anxiety and changing moods all year round.

In this piece, Julie recommends things to watch for and how to maintain open and honest communication with your child.

What are ways you've tried to keep communication lines open with your child? Are there specific things you've learned to look for with your child? Parenting is a journey, but we aren't alone in it. Please share your thoughts with us!
