I'm originally from Nova Scotia and moved to British Columbia in 2007. Being far away from home, I wanted to build a life I was proud of and follow my purpose, which led me to Holistic nutrition. I have always been fascinated with how the mind and body are interconnected. They have a powerful relationship between our mental and physical health, where thoughts, emotions, and attitudes can directly influence the body's physical state and vice versa. For example, when you're stressed or anxious, your body may respond with physical symptoms like headaches, muscle tension, or an upset stomach. If the body is nourished with proper nutrition and adopts positive lifestyle habits, your overall well-being will be balanced. After understanding that a lot of health issues stem from poor food choices and lifestyle, I wanted to change my own lifestyle so I could live a life with purpose and meaning. I’ve been working in the restaurant industry as a server for 25 years. I’ve tried other careers, but I always find myself coming back to an environment that I love for the most part…

Let me explain

Working in hospitality can be very rewarding if you manage your emotional and mental stability.

The financial abundance of making tips can be the ignition to fuel your present moment and future self if handled properly.

Eating the right food and receiving quality sleep also helps.

But sometimes working in the industry can create a downward spiral, and it can lead to toxicity, which includes:

— Spending unnecessary money after work.
— Oversleeping and depression.
— Unhealthy eating habits.
— Reactiveness and outbursts, Unable to deal with work conflicts.
— Lack of passion and purpose in life.

Trust me, I’ve been there!

Taking a course and becoming a nutritionist has helped me rewire my lifestyle and patterns, making it a game-changer.

Self teaching myself about finances and how to maximize the benefit of every dollar I make with investments has given me the financial peace and stability, especially during slow periods✌️

And most importantly, learning how to rewire my nervous system by setting proper boundaries.

My hope is to continue to build this community with like-minded individuals, even if you’re not in hospitality, so we can support each other on this journey we call life.

Working in the restaurant industry can become exhausting if you don't care for your body and mental health.

My old self used to stay up late partying, sleep all day and roll into my shift only to repeat the same cycle.

Luckily, I've learned from my old lifestyle habits to be more balanced as I age.

Honestly, I am healthier in my mid-forties than ever in my twenties and thirties.

Power Pilates is a new exercise I’ve been incorporating into my routine!

My favourite move is called “Saw.” The stretch is incredible, and it reaches under the scapula.

It’s been about six months since I started incorporating more weights and compound exercises into my lifestyle, and I’ll tell you what a difference it’s made for my energy and strength.

I started small with planking, and gradually added weights and now squats.

Exercises don’t have to be complicated, it just have to be consistent 🙌

Like getting off the couch and doing 10 push-ups while watching your favourite show.

It’s simple habits that have long-term benefits!

As we move into summer, for many, drinking tends to become more frequent—backyard BBQs, patio dinners, weekend getaways, and beachside lounging all come with a glass (or two) in hand.

Personally, there’s nothing I enjoy more than sipping a chilled glass of Chardonnay in the sunshine while indulging in a plate of mussels and clams. Seafood and white wine—two of my absolute favourite pleasures.

But even in joy and celebration, balance is key.

Moderation matters—not just for liver health but also for overall energy, skin, mood, and sleep.

Here are a few ways I support my body (and liver) while still enjoying the season:

✅Take mindful breaks from alcohol—try dry days or alcohol-free weeks.

✅Load on liver-loving foods like leafy greens, cruciferous veggies, and citrus.

✅Hydrate constantly—think water, electrolytes, herbal teas.

✅Move your body daily to support natural detox pathways.

✅Prioritize rest—quality sleep gives your body time to repair.

Remember: WELLNESS isn’t about RESTRICTION—it’s about INTENTION. You can enjoy your favourite things and feel your best.

The stories we tell ourselves shape our reality.
“I’m not disciplined.” “I always fail.” “I could never do that.” Sound familiar?

Here’s the truth: those thoughts aren’t facts.

They’re old patterns.

And you have the power to rewrite them.

Start by becoming aware, then challenge and replace them with beliefs that expand you, not shrink you.

You have the ability to rewire the way you think. Due to synaptic pruning, the brain sheds negative belief patterns when you start replacing them with positive ones.
