Welcome to JP Wellness & Nutrition

I'm originally from Nova Scotia and moved to British Columbia in 2007. Being far away from home, I wanted to build a life I was proud of and follow my purpose, which led me to Holistic nutrition. I have always been fascinated with how the mind and body are interconnected. They have a powerful relationship between our mental and physical health, where thoughts, emotions, and attitudes can directly influence the body's physical state and vice versa. For example, when you're stressed or anxious, your body may respond with physical symptoms like headaches, muscle tension, or an upset stomach. If the body is nourished with proper nutrition and adopts positive lifestyle habits, your overall well-being will be balanced. After understanding that a lot of health issues stem from poor food choices and lifestyle, I wanted to change my own lifestyle so I could live a life with purpose and meaning. If you're on a similar journey and looking for guidance, I'm here to help. I offer personalized educational resources and practical tools tailored to fit your unique needs. These resources empower you to take actionable steps toward a healthier, more vibrant life—that will positively impact your overall health. By working together, we can develop a comprehensive plan that addresses your personalized goals and helps you achieve long-term success.

Detoxification pathways 🙌

Detox trends promise quick fixes, but your body is detoxing every single day.

The key is understanding how to support your natural detox systems.

✔️skin
✔️Liver,
✔️kidneys
✔️ lymphatic

Whole foods, essential minerals, daily movement, proper hydration, and sweating all support these pathways naturally.

Detox isn’t about extremes.

It’s about consistent daily habits that allow your body to function at its best.

Daily detox is a lifestyle, and a must if you like indulging in moderation like I do 😉

Now that the holidays are finished it’s time to support and reset your body 🙌.

For hospitality professionals, detox isn’t a cleanse.
It’s daily habits that help you recover from long shifts and late nights.

✔️Staying hydrated (especially with ☕️)
✔️Proper nutrition
✔️Daily movement ( stretching before and after shifts)
✔️Sleep hygiene (avoiding late night outings after shifts)
✔️Sweating ( lots of cardio on the floor) but also implement off shift!

Your body detoxes every single day.
Your job is to work with it, not against it.
Consistency beats extremes.
That’s the real reset.

When you implement daily detoxing and understand how to work with the detoxification pathways it’s a MAJOR shift in your health.

Longevity is the key to life, especially as a hospitality professional 👌

2025 is a wrap, and it came with powerful lessons.

Life is short—far too short to rush through it or take it for granted.

Be grateful you still get to experience it, to grow, to love, to learn, and to begin again.

Wishing you all the best in 2026, and always thank you for being part of community and helping me grow 👌

Having a routine as a hospitality professional is the key to longevity in this industry. Long shifts, constant movement, and high emotional output place real demands on your nervous system and body.

Therefore, adding daily stretching and breathing techniques is essential to help calm the nervous system.

Stretching helps decompress joints, release tight hips, calves, and lower back, and reset posture after hours on your feet. Even a few minutes post-shift can reduce soreness, improve recovery, and prevent chronic pain.

Breathing, especially slow nasal or diaphragmatic breathing, helps lower cortisol, shift you out of “service mode,” and signal safety to your nervous system. It creates a clean transition from work to rest so you are not carrying the shift home with you.

A simple routine done consistently keeps you grounded, resilient, and able to show up shift after shift with clarity and energy ✌️

After spending many years in the restaurant industry, I’ve noticed a common and unfortunate pattern, not only in others but also in myself.

The epidemic of unregulated nervous system affecting staff at every level, from the back of the house to the front!

I’ve listened to chefs aggressively yell through the kitchen over the years—even heard of one throwing a steak at a wall. It reminds me of the series The Bear, starring Jeremy Allen White and Jamie Lee Curtis.

As someone who works in hospitality, I fully understand the emotional toll this industry can place on your health.

The constant pressure to remain composed, accommodating, and solution-oriented, regardless of what is unfolding behind the scenes, can lead to late-night drinking, quick energy fixes and unhealthy eating habits.

Hospitality demands emotional labour at a level many people outside the field do not see: managing guest expectations, absorbing complaints, maintaining professionalism through long hours, and balancing personal well-being with service standards.

Over time, without the right support systems and boundaries, it can impact your sense of self, your mood, and your overall resilience—leading to unhealthy habits 😬

After many years of rebooting my own health, I recognize the importance and privilege of the connections I make with others. That’s why I’ve created this easy-to-follow PDF guide to help you maintain your health and sanity in an industry we all love!

Life in hospitality can be fast-paced, but balance is possible. Here are 4 small shifts that make a big impact:

1. Eat frequent and balanced meals to help fuel the body with energy throughout your shift.

2. Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water before, during, and after your shift.

3. Rest and recover for enhanced performance.

4. Stay organized to ensure nothing slips through the cracks and creates more stress.

Balancing your lifestyle as a hospitality professional will help you show up with more energy, less stress, and a stronger sense of purpose—both on and off the floor.

Remember, the job is demanding, but you don’t have to burn out to succeed. Start with small shifts, stay consistent, and watch how much better you feel.

Welcome to JP Wellness & Nutrition

I’ve been working in the restaurant industry as a server for 25 years. I’ve tried other careers, but I always find myself coming back to an environment that I love for the most part…

Let me explain

Working in hospitality can be very rewarding if you manage your emotional and mental stability.

The financial abundance of making tips can be the ignition to fuel your present moment and future self if handled properly.

Eating the right food and receiving quality sleep also helps.

But sometimes working in the industry can create a downward spiral, and it can lead to toxicity, which includes:

— Spending unnecessary money after work.
— Oversleeping and depression.
— Unhealthy eating habits.
— Reactiveness and outbursts, Unable to deal with work conflicts.
— Lack of passion and purpose in life.

Trust me, I’ve been there!

Taking a course and becoming a nutritionist has helped me rewire my lifestyle and patterns, making it a game-changer.

Self teaching myself about finances and how to maximize the benefit of every dollar I make with investments has given me the financial peace and stability, especially during slow periods✌️

And most importantly, learning how to rewire my nervous system by setting proper boundaries.

My hope is to continue to build this community with like-minded individuals, even if you’re not in hospitality, so we can support each other on this journey we call life.

If you are ready to uplevel and become a pro in this industry through nutrition, financial tips, and mindset shifts, then let’s connect.

And to my community, thank you for following my journey, for your encouragement, and for reminding me that growth is always better when shared.

Here’s to continuing this path together. 🙌

My new favourite investment account is the FHSA, tax free!

Especially working in the restaurant industry and making tips.

✔️Contributions are tax-deductible.
✔️Money grows tax-free.
✔️Withdrawals for your first home are tax-free.
✔️You can set up investments within the account.

If you don't plan on buying a home within the 15 years, you can move your money into your RRSP.👌

An FHSA helps you turn tip money into tax-free savings for your first home. Smart move now, big rewards later!

Disclaimer: I am not a financial advisor, just a nutritionist who believes that understanding money and how it works is one of the pillars of excellent health 🙌
