“Somatic” is popping up everywhere right now… but Somatic Experiencing isn’t just a catchy word.
You’re seeing “somatic” in captions, workshops, and coaching offers because it sounds grounding, embodied, and therapeutic.
But there’s a difference between using somatic language… and actually practicing somatic trauma work.
Soma means “in the body.”
And Somatic Experiencing (SEP) is a true therapeutic modality, a structured, in-depth, body-based approach developed to help the nervous system release and resolve stuck trauma responses.
When we go through something overwhelming and our body doesn’t get to complete its natural reactions, fight, flight, or freeze, that incomplete energy can remain stored in the system.
It can show up as shutdown, anxiety, irritability, emotional flooding, chronic tension, or feeling like you’re always bracing for something.
Somatic Experiencing works by helping your nervous system complete what it never got to finish.
Through slow tracking of sensation, nervous system pacing, and allowing micro-releases, your body begins to unwind the survival stress it’s been carrying, in a way that’s gentle, precise, and trauma-informed.
This is not just “somatic tools.”
This is trauma therapy for the body.
I’m expanding my current practice to offer private Somatic Experiencing sessions on Zoom, available for a temporary sliding scale of $55–$111 as I continue to build this work.
If you’ve been looking for deeper support with trauma, nervous system overwhelm, shutdown, or chronic stress patterns, this work may meet you in a way talking alone can’t.
