Guided Meditation: Meeting Yourself With Soft Discipline
Find a comfortable position.
You may choose to sit or lie down, allowing the body to be supported beneath you.
If it feels comfortable, gently close your eyes.
Begin by noticing the places where your body is making contact with the floor or the mat.
Let yourself arrive exactly as you are.
Take a slow breath in through the nose.
And a soft, unforced breath out.
Place one hand on your heart.
Place the other hand on your belly.
Without trying to change anything, simply notice your breath moving beneath your hands.
The rise.
The fall.
The quiet rhythm that is already here.
There is nothing you need to fix.
Nothing you need to improve.
With each inhale, invite a sense of space.
With each exhale, allow a little more softness.
Bring your awareness inward and gently ask yourself, without expectation or judgment:
What do I have the capacity for today?
Notice what arises.
It may be a word.
A sensation.
A feeling.
Or it may be quiet.
Whatever your answer is, let it be enough.
Soft discipline is not about pushing.
It is about listening.
It is the practice of staying connected to yourself, even when your energy changes.
As you continue to breathe, silently repeat this phrase with each exhale:
I meet myself where I am.
Allow the shoulders to soften.
Allow the jaw to relax.
Let the breath move naturally.
If your mind wanders, gently guide it back to the feeling of your hands, your breath, your body being held.
For a few moments, rest here.
Doing nothing.
Fixing nothing.
Simply being present.
When you feel ready, take a slightly deeper breath in.
And a slow breath out.
Begin to bring gentle movement back into the body.
Wiggle the fingers and toes.
Roll the shoulders if that feels good.
When you are ready, softly open your eyes.
Carry this sense of softness with you.
Let it guide how you move, how you rest, and how you show up today.
This is enough for now.
