All are welcome to this inclusive afternoon fundraiser at KidStrong.

From the organizers:

Date: Sunday, June 23 Time:3:00-6:00 pm Location: KidStrong Macleod Trail, 9950 Macleod Trail SE

Basically, it's an afternoon filled with fun activities for kids of all abilities. Think of it as a chance for our kids to hang out, play, and just be themselves in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

I know events like these mean a lot to us – they're not just about having a good time, but also about building a community where everyone feels valued and accepted. Plus, it's a great opportunity for our kids to develop their social skills and confidence.

The blueberry bagel was originally shown as a half in the upper portion of the image. However, it was rejected because of the "chunks." I proceeded to cut it into smaller pieces to make the chunks less overwhelming and surprising. It was also easier to pick out the chunks. This adjustment proved successful for this particular picky eater.

It's important to recognize that many picky eaters harbor fears of trying new foods. Therefore, discovering methods to alleviate those fears can be a beneficial strategy.

Pediatric Foundations is presenting on Interoceptive Awareness and the role it plays in picky eating.

Interoception is a sense that we tend to forget about. Our ability to feel and understand what is going on inside our bodies is based on this sense: it allows for self-regulation. Some find it challenging to sense hunger, temperature, or sensory overload. Join us on May 8th for our next training with occupational therapist Kristen Kaszuba to focus on picky eaters who find it challenging to notice these cues and how we can approach this as health professionals.
