Let's talk about some signs of a good latch:

Baby’s chin is pressed deeply into the breast (not tucked into her chest). Her mouth is wide open. Your baby's upper lip is able to form a seal on your breast. It doesn't matter whether or not the upper lip is flanged out a lot or not at all. As long as it can form a seal, that's all that's needed.

Your baby's lower lip will be buried deeply in the breast.

There's no need to pull your breast back to look at the sides of your baby's lips. This will just pull your breast tissue out of your baby's mouth.

Baby’s head is tipped back slightly. Her nose may touch the breast but it shouldn’t be poking straight into it.

Baby’s neck is straight, not turned to the side. Both of her cheeks are touching the breast.

Chin forward, nose tipping away, head back is what you look like when you drink something.

Even when you are feeling comfortable with your breastfeeding choices other people’s thoughtless remarks can make you feel anxious or upset. Remember that the remark is a statement about the speaker’s feelings or experience and not about you. When you are feeling challenged by other people’s feeling about your breastfeeding relationship talking with a Leader or other nursing parents can help you frame your replies and renew your confidence.
