It’s wild how often people think I’m just… one thing.
A mom.
A doula.
Too much.
Not enough.
Someone they can overlook.
And honestly? I used to just let that slide.
But the past couple months reminded me of something really important:
I’m a lot of things.
From IT and business analytics…
To supporting families through fertility, loss, birth, and postpartum…
To fixing appliances, painting houses, and figuring things out when there’s no clear answer…
And tonight was one of those moments.
10-20cm of heavy wet snow.
10pm.
Pitch black outside.
Both furnaces down.
No heat. No easy fix. No “call my HVAC guy, Ben, and wait it out.”
So I did what I always do—
I figured it out.
Cleaned the vents.
Reset both furnaces.
x3… didn’t work.. now what?! I checked installation & maintenance manuals, online sources… then I learned some new things:
Took apart the blower panels.
Tracked down the flame sensors (which, of course, were not where any of my sources said they’d be.. I guess I newer models 🙃).
Cleaned them.
Put everything back together.
And stood there for a second like…
“…please work…”
And then… both furnaces kicked back on. Thank the Gods! 🙏🏻
And I just stood there like:
okay… damn. I really did that.
I’m done shrinking myself or brushing things off when people notice what I can do.
Because this?
This is who I am.
Someone who shows up.
Figures things out.
Stays steady when things feel overwhelming.
And honestly… that’s exactly how I show up for my clients too 🤍
