Join us on September 4, 2025 for "Scattered Thoughts on Mindfulness" presented by Mary Wallis Ph.D.

Most of us understand pretty clearly what mindfulness is, and why we practise it. But when we are sitting in meditation, it's often the scattered mind full of noise that can confuse and frustrate us. This talk is about that nitty-gritty, second-by-second, experience of the mind during meditation. We'll look at some suggestions on how to manage the wild stuff, how to know what's important to stay with, and how to let go of the rest.

Join us on June 19, 2025 for "Everything's Alright: the Possibility of Cultivating Contentment" presented by Ayya Ahimsa.

In our competitive, consumer culture we rarely hear talk about contentment. According to the Buddha it is a huge blessing in someone's life to often hear talk about contentment and fewness of wishes. Indeed, contentment is a reservoir of peace and ease in our lives, our spiritual practice and in our meditation..

Join us on June 5, 2025 for "Embracing Darkness: A Mindful approach to welcoming the unwelcome and the unwanted" presented by Dr. Allan Donsky.

Our internal life and the world out there provides many opportunities to engage the dark, the unwelcome, and the unwanted. Mindfulness reminds us we can either avoid being in wise relationship to the “yucky stuff” or we can find healing and "yummy stuff" alongside uncertainty and chaos. Our mindful practice provides an opportunity to experience the ever-present dance of darkness and light. This talk will attempt to render and shape the experience into language that helps us remember ourselves more fully.

Join us on March 20, 2025 for Redefining Mindfulness: A Panel Discussion on What It Really Means presented by Mary Wallis Ph.D., Christine Francoeur, and Dr. Phil Blustein.

Join us for an opportunity to reshape your understanding of mindfulness and engage in a deeper, more critical conversation about its meaning.

Mindfulness: a word we've all heard, but do we truly understand it? We often hear the definition given by Jon Kabat-Zinn — paying attention on purpose, in the present moment, without judgment. But is this all there is? What happens when we step beyond the traditional framework and question what mindfulness really is, what it isn't, and how it can evolve?

Join us for a thought-provoking panel discussion with Phil Blustein, Leslie Ellestad, Mary Wallis and Christine Francoeur - teachers from Wellness Through Mindfulness as they explore the practice of mindfulness from diverse perspectives. Together, we'll challenge the conventional wisdom surrounding this practice, expanding the conversation to include interpretations and understandings that go beyond the common definitions.

We will explore: (If each of you could provide a sub-topic related to the overall, we would like to segment the night into 4 and have each of us present, share with the panel and then open to the group)

The limitations of the "standard" definition of mindfulness
The expansion of mindfulness for personal transformation, social justice and cultural change.
Creating conditions for mindful living

Come with your questions, bring your curiosity, and hopefully leave with a more expansive view of mindfulness that you can carry into all areas of your life.

Join us on Thursday, February 20, 2025 for Riding the Waves: Finding Inner Balance in Times of Uncertainty — A Journey Through the Nervous System presented by Stacey Madden - RSME - SEF - MBT

In this experiential session, Stacey Madden, founder of Mindful Somatic Wellness, invites participants to explore the ebb and flow of the nervous system during times of uncertainty. Using the principles of embodied safety and restorative resourcing (RESY), this talk will offer practical tools for finding stability and inner balance when external circumstances feel unpredictable.

Through a blend of mindfulness practices and somatic exploration, attendees will:

- Learn how to recognize the nervous system’s natural rhythms and responses to stress.
- Discover the importance of resourcing to create anchors of safety and calm within the bodymind.
- Explore gentle movement, breath awareness, and rest practices to support regulation and resilience.
- Understand how cultivating embodied safety can deepen trust in oneself and foster emotional steadiness.

By learning to ride the waves of uncertainty rather than resisting them, participants will leave with embodied tools to ground themselves, connect with their inner resources, and restore balance—one breath, one movement, and one moment at a time.
