Took the afternoon to take a long walk along the waterfront on Galveston Island. I walked down to the Pleasure Pier, then to the Strand on the other mainland side of the island.

8 or so km in the sunshine and wind.

it's off season and Veteran's Day so it was pretty quiet, but it was nice to get out.

I'm still recovering from my cold so I'm feeling it, and will no doubt sleep well tonight.

Well that was fun! Closing keynote for day 1 of the Healthcare Service Excellence conference, for almost 500 healthcare leaders ✔️

I talked about tapping into everyday excellence to drive the big wins, and reminded this busy group that when you find time to take care of yourself and your health - even in small steps - it brings an absolute competitive edge to the work you do.

Real success isn’t always about “head down, go, go, go.” 👇🏻

If you really want to live high performance, you need to listen to your mind and body and do whatever it takes, day in and day out, to keep your machinery operating at its highest potential.

Yes, sometimes that means you’re head down doing the work. But other days, it might mean taking an afternoon exercise break because fatigue has kicked in and creativity has flatlined.

It might mean a real lunch break. Or even a nap.

Listen to your body. It knows what it needs.

And that’s the key to real high performance.

I know you know this. I’m just giving you the reminder.

I have a question for you: What do you want?

I mean, what do you really want?

In your relationships. Your health. Your career. Your finances. Your fun.

Not what your friends want. Not what your family, your spouse, your colleagues, or your kids want.

What do you want?

Take some time this week to sit with that question. It’s a big one, and it’s not always easy to answer.

But when you get to the root of it, when you get clear on what really matters to you, it makes a difference.

When you take care of yourself first, you show up better for everything else in your life.

Yesterday's event with was so amazing. They pulled out all the stops to help me (and Ewan) feel ridiculously welcome and taken care of.

I keynoted after lunch with 'The Success-Energy Equation' ... with laughs and learning aplenty 😁, and Ewan video'd my session.

Thank you to the whole team at Cape Breton Partnership. You all rock! (I know! 😉), and thank you for making the connection!

It's not often that accompanies me on my speaking engagements, but Cape Breton is pretty awesome and I had a companion pass that needed using, so we're making a trip out of it.

AND, the bonus is, he's a professional photographer/videographer so he'll be shooting my keynote! (Yup, putting him to work 😉).

When I teach spin on Sundays, I bring fresh baked muffins.

It started because another instructor always brings them when he teaches, and I thought it was a nice idea.

Today it was carrot, apple, zucchini muffins (with carrots and zucchini from my garden). There are 8 cups of fruit and veg in this recipe, and they smell like autumn spice.

I talked myself in and out of this afternoon's ride quite a few times, and I'm glad the ride won. 1) because of great company with Michele, 2) because of exercise and fresh air, 3) because of amazing autumn colours 🍁🍂 and 4) because now that I'm finally chillin' on the sofa (sipping a cider), I feel zero guilt.

Do the thing, and THEN relax. It's always the best choice 🙌🏼

More than enough. Just as you are, right now.

Let that land.

And I know what might come up next: the list in your head of everything you haven’t done yet, the ways you think you should be better, the projects still sitting on the “someday” list.

But what if, just for today, you flipped the script?

💡Write a list of what makes you amazing.
The things you already do so well.
The moments you have crushed it in the past.

When you start from there, you will realize pretty quickly: You know what? I’m okay.

You are more capable, more worthy, and more ready than you give yourself credit for!

Start from the good. Build from enough.
