Happy Chinese New Year! 2022 is an exciting year for Alberta College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine as we are celebrating our 25th anniversary.
Chinese New Year is one of the big celebrations in China, however, many parts of East Asian countries also celebrate this big day and is often known as Lunar New Year. Traditionally, it is a 15-day celebration festival that lasts until the following new full moon with lots of loud noises, bright lights, fireworks, red clothes, and decorations to scare away the monsters for a better year. It is also the time of the year that families gather up to honor their ancestors with all kinds of food.
We are delighted to celebrate 25th Chinese New Year with all of you. May you stay strong, safe, and healthy, and may you have a great year and a wonderful time ahead!

"As mid-September draws near, Earth makes its transition to Fall. The weather is cool, the air is crisp, and colorful leaves cover the ground. Every Fall, Nature gives us a big show of color, followed by a period of dryness and then release, as the trees let go of their leaves."

Fall's Gifts and Nature's Lessons | TCM World Every Fall, Nature undergoes many changes to prepare for Winter dormancy. These changes are reflected in each of us. What can Nature teach us?
"When we allow our minds to be quiet and we give ourselves permission to do the same, we begin to see life in a whole new light. The Universe reveals itself to us as a beautifully wrapped gift."

Words of Wisdom: to the Mind that is Still | TCM World When we slow down and live in the moment, we see the message behind Taoist wisdom. "To the mind that is still, the whole Universe surrenders." -Lao Tzu
"It is easy to beat ourselves up about being indecisive, or to complain about others who won’t stick to a decision. Yet, as with anything compassion, for ourselves and others, is so important. "

The Call I have heard it all my life...a voice calling a name.
"Whatever I create is connected to who I am spiritually. And who I am spiritually is the one who acts for justice and peace. This is my living faith. It has little to do with religion and does not require a church. It is a spiritual force that is active wherever I am."

Seeing the Unseen | TCM World We use our senses to experience many aspects of life. But how do we go beyond? How do we see the unseen?

"Many of us think we need more money, more power or more status before we can be happy. We’re so busy spending our lives chasing after money, power and status that we ignore all the conditions for happiness already available. At the same time, we lose ourselves in buying and consuming things we don’t need, putting a heavy strain on both our bodies and the planet. Yet much of what we drink, eat, watch, read or listen to, is toxic and is polluting our bodies and minds with violence, anger, fear and despair."

Falling in Love with Mother Earth Thich Nhat Hanh on how our love for the Earth has the power to unite us and remove all boundaries, separation and discrimination.
"If you want to truly love yourself, start by appreciating how loyal your body is to you. No matter how much abuse you put your body through—staying up too late, drinking alcohol, eating even though you’re not hungry—the body complies. The body then loyally heals itself as best it can. Appreciating the body is the first step to truly loving yourself."
https://www.tcmworld.org/looking-for-love-the-answer-is-in-self-trust/
Looking for Love? The Answer is in Self-Trust | TCM World The path to true healing begins with unwavering trust and unconditional love—in yourself, your body and your beliefs.
"Chinese medicine is an ancient medical system based on thousands of years of observation of Nature, the body and Qi. Practitioners study Qi, or vital energy, and its path through and around the body. From a TCM perspective, everything in and around your body is connected. You are tied to the seasons of Nature, and your body responds in turn."
https://www.tcmworld.org/why-use-chinese-medicine/
The Incredible Power of Chinese Medicine | TCM World Everything is Qi, or vital energy, and everything is connected. When Qi flows smoothly through the body, you experience physical and emotional harmony.
"My body exhales and tension, I didn’t know was there, dissolves just a little. So, I keep going — It’s okay not to know, and it’s okay to be scared. It’s okay to wish things were easier and better and more peaceful. It’s okay to feel. It’s okay. It’s all okay. "
