Medi-Com Consulting Inc., is one of a select few medical billing companies that has integrated the new submission and retrieval process to Alberta Health Services (AHS) in our business operations.

Once Connect Care is live, you will be able to login to Medi-Messaging to retrieve and submit your medical billing claims as you see fit!

AHS rolling back more billing changes to fees and rural doctors.

Rural doctors will be exempt from overhead billing for good, while urban doctors will be exempt for the time being.

Alberta Government Bulletin;

Subject; COVID-19 Billing Process for non-residents of Canada

Effective immediately, when submitting a claim to Alberta Health for the COVID-19 diagnosis and/or
treatment of COVID-19 for a non-entitled non-resident of Canada, physicians will need to follow the below process.

On the claim:

• Enter the appropriate Health Service Code from the Procedure List in the Schedule of Medical
Benefits (SOMB).
• The COVID-19 diagnostic code must be identified in the claim (diagnostic code 079.82 or 079.8).
• Attach a person data segment and enter the personal information collected from the patient,
including their name and the address in Alberta where the patient is staying.

Note: Prior to submitting a claim under the COVID-19 billing process, physicians must verify insurance to determine that the patient is a non-entitled non-resident of Canada.
