Sick of store bought protein bars so I made my own.

Protein Bar
1/2 cup natural peanut butter
1/4 cup honey (can substitute with one package of stevia and add more peanut butter)
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/2 cup shredded coconut
1/2 - 3/4 cup dark chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped nuts, raisins, or dried cranberries
1/2 cup ground flaxseed
1 - 1.5 cup old fashioned oats meal
2 scoop vanilla protein powder

Dry Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, place shredded coconut, chopped nuts, raisins, or dried cranberries, ground flaxseed, protein powder, and old fashioned oats. Set aside.

Wet Ingredients
Melt peanut butter, coconut oil, honey, and chocolate chips over low heat in a sauce pan on the stove. Watch it doesn't burn. Once everything is melted (should be a few minutes), take it off the stove.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mixed.

Pour into a 9"×9 pan and pack it down. Put in fridge for a couple of hours to set. Once set, cut into bars. Last about 10 days in the fridge or a month in the freezer.

YOUR BODY CAN ONLY PROCESS 20 GRAMS OF PROTEIN PER MEAL
I'm sure you have heard this myth and this was born from a single study where healthy subjects drank different grams of protein after resistance training and they found that protein synthesis capped out at 20 g of protein so no further increase was seen when taking 40 g of protein, doing leg extension which affect the rate of protein absorption compared to multiple joint movements found in most workouts. The following should be considered for rate of protein absorption
Composition of the protein (i.e. amino acids)
Composition of the meal (i.e. protein, carbs, and fats)
The exercise routine (i.e. mode, volume, intensity, etc)
Age
Training status
Amount of lean mass
All of these will influence the rate of digestion of protein. It’s important to understand that protein that is digested very quickly (e.g. whey protein) can lower the total protein used as some amino acids are oxidized (i.e. not used to spike protein synthesis) when taken in large quantities, and the rate of absorption is slowed down by changing the composition of the meal, then we may potentially slow down this oxidation of amino acids leaving us with more protein to use

The most important factor when it comes to protein consumption, is to get sufficient protein daily. To maximize protein absorption post-workout, opt for a meal that contains protein, carbs and fat.

If your goal is fat loss then the same rules apply by getting in min 1 gram of protein for desired weight goal, spread throughout the day with min of 25 grams per meal and just watching the amount of carbs eaten and the time of day you consume those carbs

THE TRUTH ABOUT HOW MUCH STEADY STATE CARDIO YOU SHOULD BE DOING
Most of us in our 40’s remember that the main form of fitness was wearing florent spandex pants and hitting the tracks, aerobic classes and following Richard simons on our living room floor. Yet today most of us revert to the treadmill or pavement and spend a lot of time putting in the miles, yet unfortunately coming out looking the same, month after month and year after year.

Like everything, too much of a good thing is just too much and will leave you empty handed. When you do too much cardio the following things occur.
❌You deplete muscle
❌You increase hunger
❌You increase carb and sugar cravings
❌You need to increase the time to get the same effects and calorie burn

Using steady state cardio is effective when it's used correctly anywhere from 30-60 min at a time and when your hormones are taken in consideration and understanding where your aerobic threshold stands. In my coaching programs I use 3 methods of cardio training; Steady state (LISS) HIIT and Threshold cardio. When all 3 are applied in your week your body does not have time to adapt and you will not experience fat loss plateaus.

I'm not going to lie, everytime I look at this picture a part of me wants to be in that body so bad again! What do I see?

Power
Determination
Will power

This picture 🖼️ was taken the day of my bikini competition and as depleted as I was, I felt like a million dollars. Looking back at this picture now, i think wow did i ever get skinny!

This level of leanness is not maintainable by any means and if you admire this look and want to look like this 24/7, then be prepared for a lonely and moody life.

This is the dark side of the story you don't read in social media with all those fitness influencers you follow, as their bodies are what keeps you hooked, keeps you buying from them and keeps you miserable.

I'm here to tell you the truth about this body image that you see. It was a glorious day of winning my 1st 👙competition ever, but it came with a BIG price tag, which is why I decided it would be my last competition.🏷️

The real competition is the war in my head of wanting to look like that, but having to see the mirror proves to me that it's not so anymore. It's painful and a complete mind FXXK up game that is so hard to get away from.🪖

We all have different desires of what we want our bodies to look like, but we need to know when to call it quits and what is a realistic body to live in feeling happy and yet still proud of yourself.

Each day is getting easier as I know I will never look like that again and know that how I look today is healthier and still beautiful.

🦋You too are beautiful and it's okay if you want to improve yourself, but be realistic about your goals and understand that all those fake smiles and filtered images you see are simply that “Filtered-Fake Lives” something you never want to experience.

HOLISTIC RECIPES 4 UR HORMONES- This month we will be focusing on green hormone balancing smoothies to celebrate St. Patricks in a healthier way vs, green cookies and cake.

Boost my workout recovery green smoothie

🥦1 ½ cups unsweetened almond milk
🥦2 cups romaine lettuce
🥦½ medium banana frozen
🥦1 scoop vanilla protein powder
🥦1 scoop L-glutamine powder
🥦1 orange

Put ingredients into the container of a Vitamix blender in the order listed.
Start blending on low speed and increase to high.
Blend on high speed for 50-60 seconds until mixture is smooth.
Pour into glasses and enjoy!

People naturally lose muscle after 40, especially women after menopause. Because muscle burns more calories than fat, this can slow down your metabolism and make it harder to shake those stubborn pounds

WHO IS VERONICA?
The diva that lives inside of me, and craves to sway my hips on the dance floor is who I want to be like I use to be, and I'm sure many of you like me feel that this pandemic has made us lose a part of ourselves, I feel like I lost that fun girl.💃

However, lately I've been listening to my favorite Doctors again on Youtube, who has taught me many lessons and one day I listened to one of her teachings about our mindset and how we are the troublemakers the problem seekers in our lives, that we have the power to change the state of our being and that is when I woke up.😴

I still have that diva desire to grab my husband and dance with him and completely let go, to grab a glass of wine without a care in the world how many calories it has and to stay up later that night and just enjoy each and every tick tock on the clock.

You and I have a choice to live happily or to live in misery, yet that choice is dependent on us and not anyone else.

Like many women, I suffered from depression and eating disorders and in 2005 I decided to become a Holistic Nutrition, to find answers for myself. Little did i know that my issues would save many women from the same pain I experience for endless years and start to feel great about themselves again.

My approach is flexibility with fitness and nutrition, and stay away from crash diets. We are all unique, I believe we need to find a way of being healthy that fits our lives not someone else.

My programs are fun, easy to follow with videos and instructions so you are never lost in the gym and I remove the confusion of nutrition through education.
