THE SOUND I HEAR WHEN
someone suggests pumping is “the easier option.”

If you’ve pumped before, you already know.
It’s not just sitting there while milk magically appears.

It’s pumping. Washing parts. Labeling milk. Storing milk. Timing the next session. Trying to eat, sleep, and take care of a newborn in between… while your body is still healing and your hormones are doing their own rollercoaster thing.

For a lot of parents, pumping isn’t the “easy” option.
It’s basically a full-time job layered on top of keeping a tiny human alive.

And if you want real, practical guidance on pumping, bottles, milk supply, and feeding in the early weeks, I’m covering it all in my Confident Feeding Workshop on March 28. Comment “Confident feeding” and I’ll send you the link to register.

It’s kind of wild that the moment you’re postpartum… everyone assumes you already know how to pump.

No one really walks you through it.
You’re handed a pump, a pile of plastic parts, and suddenly you’re expected to know what everything is, how to set it up, what to wash, and how to actually use it.

It’s a lot when you’re running on two hours of sleep.

The truth is, pumping is a learned skill. Understanding the parts, how the system works, and how to clean and set it up properly makes the whole process a lot less overwhelming.

As a NICU RN, I’ve spent years teaching parents the basics of pumping at the bedside. These are the same fundamentals that help families feel confident once they’re home.

Save this post so you have it handy the next time you’re putting your pump together.

And if you want to go deeper, I’m hosting my Confident Feeding Workshop on March 28, where we’ll cover pumping, bottle feeding, milk supply, and more.

Details are in the link in my bio.

I heard you were looking for sleep.
Good thing you found me.

If your nights currently include math like “was that 47 minutes or 2 hours?” and dramatic crib transfers worthy of an Olympic event… this is your sign.

My Good Night Baby workshop is Sunday and it’s all about sleep in the first 3 months. What’s normal. What’s overtired. What’s a feeding issue. And what you can actually influence without turning your house upside down.

Straight talk. Evidence-based. NICU RN brain. No sleep training a 6 week old.

And if your baby is over 4 months and you’re ready for a real plan? That’s where my personalized sleep packages come in. We look at your child, your routines, your goals and build something that fits your family, not the internet.

Many families are able to submit services under extended health benefits for Registered Nursing, so it’s worth checking your coverage.

Register for Sunday through the link in my bio. Recording will be sent.
Or book a package and let’s get to work.

“But they just ate…”

If your baby keeps falling asleep at the breast and waking up hungry, it’s exhausting. Especially at 2am when you’re doing mental math on how long it’s been and whether you’re doing something wrong.

I hear this all the time.

Here’s what I look at as a NICU RN:

Are we watching the clock instead of watching the baby?
Are we switching breasts before the first side is truly finished?
Could reflux be interrupting feeds?
Is milk supply a factor?

Feeding in the first 3 months is not just about time. It’s about effective milk transfer and supporting a full feed so sleep can follow.

If this is happening in your house, save this post so you can come back to it during your next feed. Share it with a parent who needs to see it.

And if you want to really understand how feeding and sleep connect in the first 3 months, join my free Good Night Baby workshop. I break down what’s normal, what to adjust, and how to stop the 2am spiral.

So we all knew life with a newborn means no sleep. But did you count on it lasting until 3 months old?! Because I certainly did not when I had my babies.

As an experienced NICU RN, I see how often parents are trying so hard but working without clear, evidence-based guidance about what’s realistic in these first three months.

That’s exactly what we’re covering in Good Night Baby.

🗓 March 1
💻 Virtual
🎥 Recording sent to everyone who registers

If you have a baby 0–3 months, this is a cannot-miss workshop. And if you can’t commit to being there live, don’t worry. I know you’ve got about 45 minutes to shower, eat, answer texts, and breathe. I’ll send the recording.

When Grandma’s around… and suddenly your baby is dressed for an Arctic expedition.

You’re just trying to follow what your pediatrician said…
…and then someone you love adds socks, a sweater, a blanket, and a “we always did it this way.”

It’s not just about the layers.
It’s the constant second-guessing. The conflicting advice. The quiet feeling that no matter what you do, someone thinks it’s wrong.

As an experienced NICU RN, I can tell you most new parents aren’t confused because they’re incapable. They’re confused because they’re getting ten different opinions about feeding, sleep, temperature, and what’s “normal.”

That noise makes everything harder.

That’s exactly why I’m hosting my free Good Night Baby workshop. We’re cutting through the myths and the well-meaning but outdated advice, and focusing on what’s evidence-based for babies 0–3 months.

If you’re tired of the mixed messages and want clarity you can actually trust, come join us.

Register for your free spot through the link in my bio and walk away knowing exactly what’s normal, what’s not, and what to ignore. Limited seats!

You did all the learning 📖and felt totally ready for breastfeeding. And then your baby threw a wrench in all your plans.

If I know babies (and after 17 years working NICU, I do , in fact, know babies🤓) they are super good at doing the opposite of whatever you think they’ll do.

So here’s the deal, if you find you don’t know what else to do to fix things, book a discovery call and let’s chat💬. We can work through your breastfeeding challenges together so you and your baby are on the same page.

5 Mistakes I see parents make everyday in the NICU:

1️⃣ Bottle feeding baby in a cradled position
The typical positioning you always see in movies or tv is not great for baby. Side lying baby to feed allows you to have more control over the bottle flow and watch for baby’s cues.

2️⃣ Being over precise about diaper cream
Put it this way: if the skin is covered by cream, it’s not getting exposed to p**p that can cause diaper rash. Don’t be stingy!!

3️⃣ Changing diapers after a feed
Change the diaper BEFORE the feed so you don’t have to disturb your baby after the feed.

4️⃣ Mistaking active sleep for awakeness
Active sleep is 📣📢 loud!!! Like loud loud. Grunting, farting, burping, groaning, straining, etc. Make sure they’re awake before you disturb them.

5️⃣ Being over - gentle burping
I know your baby seems very fragile. And it’s true we need to support their head and neck to begin with BUT pat their back like you mean it when you’re trying to burp them.
