🌸 Deneatra Ford is hitting the Life & Learning Stage at the National Women’s Show in Calgary this weekend and you’re going to want a seat for this one.

This high‑energy talk dives into women’s health in the workplace:
🌟 A raw, vulnerable story that will surprise you
🌟 How the last 40 years have (and haven’t) changed things for women at work
🌟 Why so many women are still suffering in silence on the job and what we can actually do about it

Deneatra will unpack how hormones, stigma, and outdated systems collide at work, then share practical steps for women and employers who are ready to do better, not just “check the box.”

You can catch her on stage Sunday, April 12 at 1:30 p.m., and then come say hello at booth #526 for resources, conversation, and a few fun surprises.

There will be:
✓ A powerful reality check on women’s health at work
✓ Practical takeaways you can use on Monday
✓ Give‑aways and a special offer you won’t want to miss

🌸Meet one of our incredible expert panelists for our April 9th event at Bow Valley Athletic Club and trust me, this one is going to leave you thinking differently about your health, your energy, and yourself.

Say hello to Serena Haines - Intimacy and Relationship Coach, Certified Sexologist, TEDx Speaker, host of the Intimacy Unlocked podcast, and co-host of Unmuted: The Midlife Round Table podcast.

With nearly a decade of private practice experience and a background that spans psychology, somatic s*x education, clinical s*xology, and yes, former Paramedic, Serena brings a perspective on women's health that is as grounded in science as it is in heart.

Serena's work helps individuals and couples move beyond shame to embrace pleasure, connection, and authentic intimacy. She believes that our s*xual wellness is not a taboo topic, it is a powerful and deeply human path to healing, joy, and wholeness.

And for those of us navigating peri to post menopause, this conversation couldn't be more timely or more important.

"Your s*xual energy is your life force and creative energy!! How we show up in our sensual expression is how we show up in the world." — Serena Haines

This is exactly the kind of candid, expert-led conversation we are bringing to our FREE event on April 9th open to both members and non-members of Bow Valley Athletic Club.

If you're ready to talk openly about the parts of women's midlife health that don't always make it into the doctor's office, this evening is for you.

👉 Drop a "I'M IN" in the comments or send me a message to reserve your spot. Space is limited and you will not want to miss this one.

🌸 Meet the expert who will change the way you think about your hormones, your mood, and your health.

We are counting down to "Let's Talk Menopause" on April 9th at 5:30pm at Bow Valley Athletic Club, and over the next few days we are featuring each of our four incredible expert speakers.

First up is someone whose approach to women's health is truly one of a kind.

Meet Dr. Griselle Leon, MD, CCFP, ABOM.

Dr. Leon is a Calgary family physician with deep clinical expertise in women's health, menopause care, mental health, and preventive medicine. She co-founded Bloom Institute of Mental Health and Wellness, practices at MAUD Medical Clinic (a women's health clinic), and works in weight management and metabolic health at the Alberta Obesity Centre.

What makes her exceptional is how she connects the dots. Hormones, mood, metabolism, weight, and well-being do not exist in isolation, and Dr. Leon helps women understand exactly how these pieces influence each other throughout perimenopause, menopause, and beyond.

And the best part? This event is completely free and open to everyone, members and non-members alike.

Come curious, come comfortable, and come ready to sip some wine, connect with other women, and finally get real answers about what is happening in your body and what you can actually do about it.

👉 Space is limited. RSVP today to reserve your spot.

🌸 Spent my Saturday exactly how I love it: surrounded by powerful, inspiring women!

Yesterday’s Health Wealth & Leadership conference was pure energy! The room was buzzing, the conversations were real, and the women there reminded me (again) why community matters so much.

Huge thank you to the incredible TWEN team (, , ) for organizing, and hosting such a meaningful event.

Alla and Nadine did a fantastic job moderating the panels and keeping the dialogue flowing.

It was so nice to see familiar faces (.pelvicphysio, ), and a big thanks to for being my event date.

I also met so many amazing women I know I’ll cross paths with again very soon… and I honestly can’t wait.

Here’s to more rooms like this, more brave conversations, and more women lifting each other up. 💖

🌸 I had the opportunity to attend CAWIC’s Coffee and Connections meeting this morning, where the focus was on allyship for women in construction.

It was powerful to hear from leaders like Russel Cook and Luke Sinclair, who spoke candidly about hiring, retention, and safety for women in construction.

As our trades workforce moves toward a significant wave of retirements, we urgently need more women not only entering the trades, but feeling safe, supported, and empowered to stay.

One statistic shared by Kristen Bauer really struck me: 53% of women leave the trades within five years...a clear signal that culture, safety, and leadership support still need serious attention.

At the same time, I’m noticing a concerning drop in visible support from companies and even politicians for initiatives that focus on women in the workplace.

I would genuinely love to hear others’ perspectives: have we collectively “checked the box” on gender equity and moved on, without fully measuring the impact of what’s been done so far?

Shouldn’t we be asking what has actually changed and what still hasn’t?

My question to this community: How do we make supporting women in the workplace, and especially women in the trades, “s*xy” and urgent again, rather than a nice-to-have?

What would it take for leaders, organizations, and policymakers to re‑energize their commitment so that women feel safe, heard, and able to build long, successful careers in construction?

🌸 I was incredibly honoured to be part of the Hot Flash Files Peri-Party last night here in Calgary. We gathered at the Sunalta Community Hub to watch the first episode of “BALANCE: A Perimenopause Journey,” an eye‑opening docuseries that shines a much‑needed spotlight on the realities of perimenopause.

After the screening, I joined an amazing panel of women’s health experts to dive into the episode with the audience...what resonated, what raised questions, and what we each learned from the stories on screen. That first episode ended on such a cliffhanger that now I’m seriously considering getting Apple TV just so I can keep watching the rest of the series.

From there, we moved into “all things menopause,” and we meant all: food and nutrition, exercise, HRT versus natural approaches, surprising symptoms, misinformation online, painful s*x, and so much more. I heard stories from women that truly blew me away...honest, vulnerable insights that you rarely hear in day‑to‑day life.

What struck me most was the sense of community that formed in that room. Strangers came together and shared deeply personal details about their physical and mental health, and in doing so, created a powerful, supportive space. I’m deeply grateful for gatherings like this because I always leave having learned something new, met incredible people, and heard stories that reaffirm just how essential it is to keep creating more spaces and events like these for women.
