I am testing a new fall recipe today that calls for chickpeas. Guess who forgot to soak those protein packed peas last night?! 🙀 Thankfully, I was gifted an Instapot - this is not an advertisement, just a statement of fact - a couple years ago and I will have cooked chickpeas in approximately 45 mins!
Why do I use dried chickpeas, you ask? #1 reason is: Affordability. Dried beans, peas and legumes keep cash in your pocket. #2 is: Reduction of Waste. You can cook as many or as few as you need. When restocking your pantry, you can use a reusable container when buying in bulk and only purchase as much as you need.
If you prefer the convenience of canned, that's great! Do what works for you. If the can option leaves you with too many chickpeas for your recipe they can be frozen for the next time you need them. Or roast them up with your favourite seasoning for a high protein, crunchy snack 🤤
Stay tuned for details of the new recipe.
