Tinnitus Awareness Week Feb 2-8.

📢 This week marks the Tinnitus Awareness week. 📢
📆 Each day, a myth or fact about tinnitus will be shared to raise awareness around tinnitus and debunk common misconceptions around this condition. Stay tuned!

📜 Myth: "There is nothing I can do about my tinnitus.”

There is no cure, but there is management.
Many people reduce their tinnitus distress through:
· Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness.
· Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT).
· Hearing aids 🦻 (90% people with tinnitus also have some kind of clinical hearing loss) amplify environmental sounds and reduce the contrast between tinnitus and other sounds.

These approaches make tinnitus less intrusive by reducing distress and improving sound contrast.

Other exploratory treatments are currently under investigation but are not yet available in standard care.
