Despite being an overcast day, we started 2026 with intention! Created mood boards, made some serious comfort food (veggie packed chili), and in the spirit of our outdoor theme this month, went for a snowshoe with the horses and had a lovely campfire outside!

I only started in September but it’s been such a fulfilling experience to bring together some truly amazing young adults with varied abilities! Stepping into 2026 with fresh ideas and looking forward to our January theme! We are getting some fresh air and taking advantage of all the wonderful things are winter has to offer! Our young adults today were very reflective and happy to contribute in assembling holiday baskets for those in need this season! We created baskets for other young adults! It was a fabulous surprise for the Salvation Army to receive our baskets! We are hoping to develop a relationship with them as we take our place in the community! Very happy today!

We had a beautiful week once again! We visited the Contemporary Calgary art museum, learnt how to put on winter blankets for the horses, made Italian wedding soup for fun on a snowy day, did diamond played games, and so much more 🤩

Is your young adult with PDD/AISH free on Monday afternoons? Then this might be a great weekly social group to add to the schedule 😉

This is a monthly offering requiring pre-registration! Themes and activities will vary month-to-month!

Marianne Disipio is the Support Worker facilitating the activities, with a degree in health sciences, wellness coaching, yoga, instruction, and equine-assisted support©️. Yes, you heard right! There are horses on-site 🐴❤️ But that’s not all!

These recreational respite and community activities are designed to maximize the potential for authentic social connections for young adults with similar profiles!

Heads up, everyone! Acreage Adventures Day Program is getting revamped! It will now be called Meaningful Connections, aimed at providing recreational respite and community activities for young adults with intellectual disabilities who require minor-moderate support.

it will run like a monthly offering and will require registration in advance just like a course/class.

It will run every Monday afternoon from 1:00 to 4:00 pm, and the theme will vary from month to month.

To utilize PDD funding, legal guardians hire Marianne (or the other staff person) as their Support Worker for respite and/or community support.

Up to 6 participants only.

Same location in Bearspaw, with the option to be picked up and dropped off at the Rocky Ridge Co-op if needing to use Calgary Access Transit.

Fall has never been more beautiful here at the acreage 🍂🍁We have been spending as much time outside as possible before the snow comes. Toasty warm campfires with hot chocolate in the company of horses, seasonal inspired crafts, lazy bonding moments by the river, visits from creatures 😉, and we even have a new helper on Mondays!

Wishing everybody a happy Thanksgiving! So grateful for the opportunity to share my life, passions, and skills with these amazing young adults, who genuinely inspire me every day!

There is still were on Wednesdays for anybody who would like to inquire about the 2 afternoons I offer! You can use your community or respite hours under PDD family managed services.

It’s finally ready! Our community book exchange! You can follow us We will be open for business October 25 from 1 PM to 4 PM! Bring the whole family! Come with a fiction book to exchange for any age group, or don’t come with one at all! You can always purchase a new book for a small price! All proceeds go to helping young adults with varied abilities! Have a coffee and meet the horses and enjoy the beautiful property! We can’t wait to meet you! This is a big deal for us!!!

We got dirt under our nails working in the garden, and of course the horses needed to inspect! They approved but found a few apples we missed 😉🍎🐴. Everyone got to learn how to drive the John Deere. Now that’s a life skill if ever I heard of one!! Then on Wednesday we headed to The Calgary Selfie Museum! OMG did we laugh 😂 Acreage Adventures Day Program rocks if I do say so myself! We have a new member starting next week!! Can’t wait!!
