Our formulas are artfully distilled and blended by herbalist, naturalist, and Master Formulator Dominique Del Col in our solar-illuminated stillroom, housed within a converted heritage stone crofters cottage erected in 1879. A dedicated grassroots green space surrounded by a lush and fecund English garden, abundant in wild medicinal herbs and heirloom flowers. We are eternally devoted to crafting the finest herbal skincare and wellness preparations in a conscious environment, using sustainable, organic, and wild foraged ingredients while advocating for biodynamic and celestially guided planting practices. Our formulations are thoughtfully concocted by hand in micro-batches with only the purest botanical essences and extracts, without artificial ingredients, and in mindful glass vessels free of unnecessary packaging. Our path is guided by intentional sourcing to navigate the environmental and social impact in every step of our makers' process. When you eat food that is in season, you lower your carbon impact. Locally grown food takes significantly fewer transportation resources, reducing your influence on emissions and greenhouse gases. Produce like herbs, flowers, grains, fruits and vegetables are also picked at the peak of their ripeness and nutrition density because they do not need to risk spoilage during transit. This means that each pear, plum, bundle of rosemary, or root vegetable is wildly more nutritious and healthful for you to enjoy. We are passionate about applying this vital principle in the formulation of our skincare. We hand-forage our bounty of wild organic botanicals when they are dripping with morning dew drops and glittering dollops of pollen, buried deep in the soil, fully functioning as a vital living ecosystem that sustains the natural world around it, nourishing bountiful crops and verdant forests and providing sustenance for diverse wildlife and landscape. Any rare essences or non-native plants used in our formulas are always wild-gathered, organic, and procured at a premium from micro-herbaries who share our values and are committed to regenerative growing and sustainable harvesting practices. As eternal earth stewards, we harvest in communion with and in reverence of this magnificent land while crafting skincare formulas that are nutritionally exceptional and magnificently effective.

Step inside our story—where organic whole-plant infusions, slow fermentation, and small-batch distillation converge with wild coastal and regional flora, and modern plant science to create skincare that transcends the ordinary. In collaboration with local growers, herbalists, and the bioregional landscape, each formula becomes a reverent act of floral storytelling—an ode to living minerals, wild ferments, and microbiome diversity. Every creation is a profound exploration of history and nature, crafted by master formulator and herbalist Dominique Del Col.

In our 19th-century stone stillroom in Wellington County, botanical extraction begins at the source. Here, seasonal blooms, roots, and resins are slowly transformed using ancestral methods in antique copper distillers—then blended and bottled in small batches at our 1876 riverside atelier in Historic Galt.

Working in harmony with the seasons and in collaboration with local herbaries and organic allotments, every offering honours the integrity of whole plants and the land from which they come. Infused with blossom minerals, biodynamic extracts, and fresh herbal distillates, these formulas gently bolster the skin’s natural vitality and microbiome.

This is skincare as ritual—an immersive, sensorial communion between land, lineage, and luminous skin.

Cold Weather Sunlight: A Gentle Reminder

The sun softens, but it never truly sleeps. Even under grey skies and falling snow, UV rays persist, often magnified by their reflection on frost and ice. These invisible exposures can quietly lead to hyperpigmentation, uneven tone, and depletion of the skin’s natural lipid barrier.

Our Reishi Boréale Phytonutrient Sun Support Serum was created for this delicate season, when the skin needs both protection and deep replenishment.

Formulated with marshmallow root, seabuckthorn berry, and aged licorice root, it restores radiance while supporting the skin’s defense against daily environmental stress. Calendula, oat straw, and rosehip lend soothing hydration, while astragalus root and Vancouver Island kombu kelp fortify and remineralize, helping the complexion remain plump, balanced, and luminous even in winter’s dry air.

To complete your ritual, layer with a mineral zinc-based sunscreen (20–25% zinc oxide) for lasting, non-irritating protection — the ideal companion to our Reishi Boréale Serum. Together, they create a seasonless ritual of nourishment and care.

Winter sunlight asks for gentleness, not retreat. Step outside, let the cold air kiss your face, and trust your skin to be held.

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑾𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑺𝒖𝒏 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝑹𝒊𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍:

1. Apply Reishi Boréale Phytonutrient Serum

2. Follow with a zinc mineral sunscreen (20–25% zinc oxide)

3. Step into the natural world, and enjoy.

A preserved study in contrast and kinship, the brightness of Lavender crushed underfoot, softened by the shadowed warmth of Oak and Angelica Root, and stirred awake by the faint, electric spark of wild fermented Dill Seed.

This damp, resonant blend moves between garden and woodland, herb and soil, a scent shaped by the passage of time and the patience of the hand that gathers.

Our botanical fragrances are composed entirely of plant distillates, tinctures, and resins, never synthetic accords, allowing each note to unfold as it would in nature: imperfect, tender, and alive.

Lavande et Dill is an ode to land and lineage, to the quiet storytelling found in herbs, flowers, roots, and resin. It recalls the memory of places tended and remembered, of ancestral gardens, and of the earth itself, still fragrant after rain.

An interview with the Toronto Guardian

Part 2:

Q: What made you want to do this work?

A: I’ve always been rooted in tactile exploration, working with natural elements and following curiosity wherever it led.

That curiosity deepened into a study of traditional herbalism, the resurrection of historic distillation practices, and the realization that so much of what we now call wellness was built on the lineage of herbal knowledge passed quietly through generations.

I love connecting with people and creating experiences that tell rich, atmospheric stories through flowers and scent. Building spaces that feel like sanctuaries has always been part of that calling, places I would crave to visit myself, time and time again, to nurture a sense of devotional self-care.

Our first shop in Toronto’s Beaches neighbourhood, Rowan Homespun Market, became exactly that: a sunlit community hub where people from all walks of life came to gather, sip tea, share and learn.

It was a space that celebrated old-world herbcraft and the quiet ways it continues to merge with modern botanical science.

The Archival Atelier is a continuation of this journey, and it feels beautifully ingrained, an ouroboros, full circle - a return to the essence of why I began. A place where past and present meet in ritual, and where the work feels both entirely new and deeply remembered.

An interview with the Toronto Guardian

Part 1:

Q: Who are your clientele/demographics?

A: The people who find their way to Tidelands House are seekers of ritual and story. They are drawn to experiences that carry depth, that feel chosen. There is a shared reverence for history, sustainability, and the quiet poetry of materials sourced with care.

Our patrons are looking for skincare that feels nutritive, living, and vibrant, formulations that move beyond surface care into something more sensory and soulful. They value an ethos built on thoughtfulness and slowness, where each creation holds a trace of the land it came from.

They are the kind of people who pause, who lift a vessel and feel its stillness, who crave moments of beauty that transcend the rush of modern life. For them, skincare is less about appearance and more about awareness: a daily ritual of returning to the body, honouring the skin as an extension of the natural world.

Our work speaks to those who find meaning in the old-world rhythm of botanical storytelling, in roots, resins, and petals, and who long for a connection that feels both ancient and immediate. The formulas are for everyone, created with the intention of communion and kinship, an invitation to inhabit beauty as ritual rather than routine.

For many, a visit to the atelier becomes a pilgrimage of sorts, a way to reconnect to something elemental, tactile, and profoundly restorative.
