Mayor Albert Legge signs the proclamation to promote Autism Awareness on April 2, 2026. We join with Autism Society Newfoundland and Labrador to promote Autism Awareness not only today but every day throughout the year.

Newfoundland and Labrador Disability Benefit starts July 2025!

This new monthly benefit provides up to $400 per month for people with disabilities in Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as a $1200 yearly contribution to individuals with an RDSP.

To be eligible you must:
- Be a resident of NL
- Receive the DTC (Disability Tax Credit) through the CRA (Canada Revenue Agency)
- Have filed your income taxes this year
- Meet age and income requirements. For more information on the specific requirements, visit the Government of NL website: https://www.gov.nl.ca/cssd/newfoundland-and-labrador-disability-benefit/

Unlike the Canada Disability Benefit, you do not need to apply! Individuals who meet the above criteria will have benefits automatically deposited to their accounts. See the link above for more information!

MRON is looking to hire a part-time Job Coach in Whiteway, NL for 10 hours per week. Successful candidate will be expected to provide onsite job skill training and employment supports to an individual with an intellectual disability.
Days and hours of work are flexible but are completed as two 5 hour shifts per week. Anticipated start dare is Aprill 7, 2025.

The rate of pay is $16.05 plus 4% vacation pay.
