I am a huge believer in certification! Having worked in an industry in both the US & Canada that was unregulated, I feel that in order for a profession to grow, there must be standardization to create protection for both the professional as well as the clientele. So, as I said goodbye to 34 years in one career, my one regret was seeing a lack of professional growth thru regulation within.

As I began to explore the world of reflexology, it excited me that there was not only a required educational standard but a professional certification that works towards opening doors for the profession! So for myself, there was never any question of pursuing not just my title as a Reflexologist but a Professional Registered Certification to prove myself to a national standard.

After passing my testing of my RAC schooling, I took the next step and attained the title of RCRT™. In fact scoring higher on my RCRT™ testing than my RAC finals! So it is with a great deal of personal pride to be able to say I am a member of the RAC with my RCRT™.

How did I come up with the name,The Naked Sole?

Well the Sole part comes easy! Since the bottom of the foot is part of the reflexology practice, it's an easy term to use, however it's a bit of a double meaning....

Since Reflexology is a healing therapy, it involves Body & Soul in its entirety and with the personal element of touch it creates an intimacy between practitioner and client. So the Sole is about both the physical and spiritual.

The term Naked refers to the exposure of the limb and also to the vulnerability of the client. Many people find exposing their feet to be a large matter of trust and the defenselessness they feel is an experience we as therapists must sooth and at the same time support.

Therapy is about healing and the best way to heal is by creating balance and harmony to promote that environment which exacerbates it.

So after much thought and searching The Naked Sole was born!

What is foot reflexology?

This is a common question as many have never heard of reflexology. It is based on the theory that by manipulating the foot in specific patterns and areas, there is a corresponding response in the body systems. Creating a balancing of disharmony and bringing the body into a healing phase.

This might take multiple sessions to take true effect as it is a natural therapy, causing the body to attempt to heal itself. Part of this response is by closing gates or opening others by creating stimulus thru gentle manipulation, to the point where the body may cease centering on specific issues such as pain and create a gateway to balance the systems.

In recent years it has been more recognized and on occasion, insurance companies will reimburse for session! This is a step of recognition that it is a therapy that does work, sometimes when others have failed to provide results expected.

To think this journey began with a fractured bone! Not my own! Sometimes when you are wandering the path of existence, a little pebble is in front of you and you make the choice to either ignore it, kick it aside or examine it more closely.

I picked up that pebble from a person's pain pathway and turned it into a whole new world! It still amazes me how this journey began!

Having recently attained not just my Reflexology Therapist title but also my Canadian Registered Certification, I have just opened the door to a world of therapy and doing it my own way.

It is my hope to bring the things I have learned into my belief system and offer new hope to those in need. While Reflexology is a very old therapy, it is still in its infancy as a modern recognized therapeutic alternative. Many people have difficulty believing in an ancient craft that does not involve modern medications but it can work!

I will share my findings as we traverse this path together!! May the sun shine on your face and warm your souls!
