A Chase fixture now seen regularly around town, the Chase Community Services Society - Chase Seniors Transit is celebrating 4 years. This BC Registered Non Profit Society and Federally Registered Charity operates with a Volunteer Board of Elected Directors, who meet monthly in Chase. The purpose and goal of the Chase Seniors Transit has been to help local Seniors and Chase Residents with Disabilities or Mobility issues, who require transportation assistance in order to get to Medical and Health & Wellness appointments, through the services of the Chase Seniors Transit, Bus or Van.
The Chase Seniors Transit began with volunteers being able to purchase a 7 person / wheelchair accessible bus (manufactured in BC) for the first year and a half. As the word spread so did more needs become identified and the Volunteer Board went out and secured funds for a second vehicle, a Chrysler 6 person passenger van.
During 2022 the 2 vehicles had travelled over 43,000 km with 14 drivers, who are qualified, insured and have had Driving and Criminal Record Checks and are local residents. Over 375 trips in 2022 and over 540 trips in 3 years.
Close to 800 individual clients utilized the CCSS Seniors Transit Bus Program (Bus or Van).
Operating costs of over $ 31, 000 were incurred during 2022.
With door to door pickup and delivery back home requests, phoning to arrange a pick up time as soon as possible really helps, the more days before your appointment the better. Reservation times must be entered into the weekly computer / dispatch schedule in order for the Chase Seniors Transit Bus or Van pick up time to be reserved. Ph: 778 - 586 - 6565 to register or for more information.
The Chase Community Services Society - Chase Seniors Transit is available to Chase Seniors, local Chase residents who are handicapped or a disabled person, or a person with mobility issues, a person who requires transportation help to get to Medical and Health & Wellness related appointments. Please Be Aware the local Chase Seniors Transit does not replace Taxi Service.
As interest and awareness increases, so does the identified need. The Board of Directors have been talking about the need for a 3rd vehicle to help meet our local Transportation needs.
