An excellent offering.

We still have a couple of spots available in our upcoming Growing Around Grief support group!

We are pleased to announce, in partnership with Nova Scotia Health "Growing Around Grief" - a 6-week support group facilitated by Shannon Vincent (RSW) and Anna Stewart (SWC) built around a reimagination on what it means to "live without". Rather than attempting to move past grief, this program will bring new skills in processing & living with grief, and growing new life experiences around it.

Shannon Vincent (RSW) is a primary care social worker supporting individuals and communities in Chester, Mahone Bay and Lunenburg. She is passionate about fostering connection through relational practice, strengthening community capacity, and providing trauma-informed care. Shannon is dedicated to creating safe, welcoming spaces where people can navigate challenges together and grow resilience.

Anna Stewart (SWC) is a primary care social work candidate in Bridgewater. She has completed multiple international trainings in yoga and meditation, mindfulness, conscious communication, and breathwork. She completed her BSW practicum with Budding Roots Therapy, specializing in somatic group work. She believes in the body’s innate capacity to experience grief, if we can learn to trust it as a guide.

If you have experienced and find yourself struggling with a great loss, and think you may benefit from this program email us at admin@ourhealthcentre.ca or call 902-273-2283 to register. As we emerge from winter-mode and into activities we've not done for a while, massage therapy can support your body to adjust and meet the demands of all the activities you enjoy in the spring!

Reach out to Posture Perfect Health to ask about which experienced massage therapist is the best fit for you.

Studies of Massage Therapy continually demonstrate massage as an effective treatment for muscle tension, balance, and gait. Massage can help you move with ease as we move into spring.

This Friday, March 27th will be our next Community Connections Cafe - and we'll have a visitor!

Over the holidays, OHC & NSH put together a "Holiday Connections Cafe" in our main lobby as a way to bring people together in our space for a sense of community. This time we've been excitedly waiting for confirmation to do this again, this time with the help of a furry friend named Miss Polly! Miss Polly is a therapy dog with the St John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program, whose job is to bring "comfort, joy and companionship to members of the community who are sick, lonely, reside in long-term care and mental health facilities; are in hospitals, schools and library settings." She's been a familiar face at Shoreham Village next door, and will be spending the afternoon with us here at OHC! Stop by our main lobby on MARCH 27th from 1PM - 3PM for coffee, tea, light snacks AND a furry friendly face! We're very much looking forward to meeting you, Miss Polly!!

Dance has so many benefits! The music, movement patterns and social connection all stimulate our brains in different ways. I love everything that my dance practice and community bring into my life.

All are welcome to join us for Be Moved dance class, Mondays at 5:00 at The Mahone Bay Centre.

A bit of introduction to this program, beginning February 5. The deadline is coming soon, please feel free to reach out with any questions.

Moving Through
What could help you move through stress, grief, or feeling stuck? This program explores concepts of nervous system regulation, and integrates those concepts into a movement practice. Each class will have an introduction to a somatic skill for supporting nervous system health, guided movement to a variety of music, and a short reflection. The movement is gentle, exploratory, and uses simple repetitive moves, as well as some guided free exploration. We’ll explore somatic movement skills such as start and stop, connect with rhythm, expand and contract, and follow the flow. All are welcome – no experience required, and any mobility challenges can be included.

From a fall participant: "Kathleen renewed my interest in dance and I loved her tiny teachings, music playlist, rhythm & flow. As a participant I was very engaged and did not want to miss a session."
