Did you know April is Autism Awareness Month and that today Apr 2 and is World Autism Awareness Day. I am wearing blue in support of "Light it up Blue".

This day is near and dear to my heart. Most here know about what I do with my business. Drum Circle Facilitator & Qigong Instructor.

From 2001-2020, I worked with kiddos in elementary schools, preschools, and also did weekly respite with a wonderful adult who I adore.
Currently, I work with kiddos as a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant and OT Assistant midweek.

Why is today important? Chances are you know someone on the Autism Spectrum. Today is about educating, accepting, supporting, & celebrating .

It is important to know it is a Neurological Disorder and a spectrum. Some are low functioning and other high functioning. Some are non verbal, and some are verbal.
Social interactions are challenging for many. Stimming is their way to self regulate not a behavior or something peculiar. They stim in different ways. Making sounds, flapping, moving their bodies.

When communicating give a minimum of 6 seconds for them to process and respond.

Today, I celebrate 13 years as a drum circle facilitator, reflecting on a fulfilling journey of facilitating events across southern Alberta and British Columbia. Throughout my journey, I've drummed with individuals 3 to 104 years old, in various capacities, including organizations, conventions, Gala, schools, retreats, and celebrations, both indoors and outdoors. I find immense joy in facilitating drum circles and am thankful for the opportunities that have come my way. I'd like to extend my gratitude to everyone who has believed in me, hired me, and participated in my drum circles. I'm excited to continue spreading positivity and creating experiences in 2026!🎵🪘🎉💓
