🌱🌻The progression of sunflower shoots. 🌻🌱
•
•
After the sunflowers have been planted they get covered and weighed down. The weight and complete darkness simulate soil covering the seeds triggering the seeds to sprout and start to grow!☝🏻This is known as the blackout period.
•

After the blackout period the tiny shoots stems and leaves are yellow, this is because they have not been exposed to sunlight and the photosynthesis process has not yet started.
•
•
Once introduced to light, the shoots start to flourish and break free from their seed hulls. Most importantly, photosynthesis occurs and they start to turn GREEN!!🌱🌱 After about 5 -6 days of being under the light the greens are ready to harvest and eat!! 🙌🏻😍

The first photo was taken just after the blackout period. The second photo was taken after a day under the Light and the last photo was taken before harvest!😲😯

Entrepreneurs often work for free, they even have to be willing work other jobs at the same time to get started. This path is about seeing things through no matter how hard things get. It’s about being the last man/woman standing when everyone else has lost faith in you & fallen by the wayside.

Hello microgreen lovers! 💚

Whether you are relatively new to microgreens or just need a knowledgeable refresher - these tips & tricks should help you keep your greens fresh for longer ⏰ 👀

•

1) Manage humidity 💦
•
•
Maintaining a certain level of humidity is a key part of keeping your microgreens fresh and crunchy 🌱 One of the best and simplest ways to store them is to put a piece of paper towel (preferably eco friendly recycled paper towel) in the packaging. If you store your microgreens this way, you should expect them to stay fresh for a week. Although, maximum shelf life is as long as 14 days.

2) Keep them cool! 🌬
•
•

Microgreens like to be kept cool. Around 36 degrees F (around 2 degrees C.) Normal refrigerators can run at up to 40 F (4.5 C) so you may want to check your settings and turn your fridge down a bit if you’re able to. It’s best to leave your microgreens in the refrigerator until right up until they need to go on to your plate or into your recipe 🍲That way they won’t start to dry out or wilt before you get to serve them.

3) Keep them out of sunlight ☀️🙅🏻
•
•

Microgreens love light when they’re still growing. But once you harvest them, it’s best to keep them out of direct sunlight. Exposing some varieties of microgreens to sunlight after they’ve been harvested can alter their taste and appearance.
•
•

4) Wash them with care 💦
•
•

It’s a good idea for health reasons to wash your microgreens before eating them, just like any vegetable. Bare in mind that microgreens are delicate so they can bruise easily. It is important to handle them with care. You don’t need to drown them. Just lightly rinse them in cold water and then gently run them through a salad spinner to dry them off if you’ve got one.
It’s best to wash your microgreens right before you’re going to use them, not before you store them in the refrigerator. Otherwise they may have excess moisture and deteriorate more quickly.

Fresh, Organic Microgreens delivered to your door! 🌱

Responsibly grown with the environment in mind! We farm all our greens using the vertical farming system. Vertical farming is the practice of growing crops in vertically stacked layers in growing trays. Growing crops with this method maximizes the area in which you can farm and doesn’t disturb the soil. The soil we fill our trays with gets composted after every use and turned into worm castings for plant nutrients.

Our packaging is made out of corn resin, it looks and acts like real plastic but can be composted and leaves no footprint behind.
