Alberta Parks will be running a 6-week Grief Walk program this Fall in Bow Valley Provincial Park. These gentle group walks in the beautiful Bow Valley Provincial Park are designed to allow people to process grief and loss. These walks will give time for rest and reflection, conversation, or solitude. Participants will walk the routes in an intimate group and have a chance to observe changes in the landscape over the 6 weeks.

I'm so excited to put the spotlight on the amazing Olive! For the past 3 weeks, Olive has been in my day training program, and to say she ROCKED it is an understatement.

We focused on foundational manners, especially conquering that tricky puppy jumping. This pup is as sharp as a tack and would often master a new skill in a single session! It has been an absolute joy partnering with her and her incredible owner.

Now, I'm saying a bittersweet goodbye as Olive sets off on her next incredible journey: Therapy Dog Training! 🐾 I have no doubt she is going to be a star and bring comfort to so many. Go get 'em, Olive!

🐾 Olive’s Sunday Pause 🐾
Our therapy pup-in-training knows the value of slowing down. Today, Olive reminds us that rest, play, and presence are just as important for humans as they are for pups. 💛 Take a moment to pause, breathe, and recharge — your well-being matters.

✨We don’t need to allow *everyone* to have access to us 24/7 ✨ When we are juggling life and a message comes through it can sometimes feel overwhelming. But we can set boundaries and personal policies around when we respond to messages. We can reflect on when in the day it feels best to reply. It’s ok for people to wait, they will get used to it and understand 🐌

Olive Update!
Olive is now 5 months old and recently graduated from Puppy Obedience at the Cochrane Humane Society 🎓🐾. She’s continuing to build her skills with the help of Kari from Pawsitive Families and will be starting her Therapy Dog training this September.

So proud of how far she’s come already — and so excited for the journey ahead as she prepares to bring comfort to our Aspen Grove Counselling community.

SEEKING VETERAN FAMILY MEMBERS! How do you sleep? We know that sleep problems are highly prevalent in Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Canadian Armed Forces Veterans for a multitude of reasons and that they often occur alongside many mental health conditions. However, there is limited knowledge about the sleep experiences, quality and outcomes of these experiences on Canadian Veterans and consequently, on their Family members.

We are looking to hear from Veteran Family members in our study on the sleep health of Veterans and their Families. Participation involves filling out a one-time online survey that should take about 30 minutes to complete. You will be asked questions about your sleep habits, routine and quality, as well as about your information needs when it comes to sleep health. All eligible Veterans and Veteran Family members can participate whether they experience sleep problems or not. Learn more and participate: atl-as.ca/sleep-experiences-study

We encourage you to share this survey with your fellow Veterans and Veteran Family members.

Participants are needed for a study that seeks to understand what makes people feel happy, connected and fulfilled in all aspects of life. We invite you to complete our one-time survey, which should take approximately 60 minutes. Your browser will remember your spot and allow you to come back to the survey, or you can complete it in one sitting.

You can participate if you are:
- At least 18 years of age
- Living in Canada
- Comfortable reading and writing in English or French
- General stream: Participants who meet the above eligibility criteria
- Veteran stream: Veterans of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police or Canadian Armed Forces (uniformed member, honourably discharged) and who meet the eligibility criteria

We are looking to hear from all perspectives and you don’t need to feel like you are thriving to participate. The results will help create relevant mental health promotion resources for Veterans and enable programs and services to cultivate flourishing among Veterans.

Please share this post and survey with your friends and Family. Learn more and participate at atl-as.ca/thriving-study.
