Sometimes self-care doesn’t need to be complicated.

Sometimes a familiar voice on the radio is all it takes to feel a little more grounded and connected.

Olive’s Spa Day 🛁
Bath time’s becoming a regular thing around here—and Olive’s getting the hang of it. She’s still figuring out how she feels about bubbles, but the towel snuggles? Big fan.

These little routines are helping her grow into the calm, confident therapy pup she’s meant to be. Proud of our girl. 🐾💛

Reflect and Celebrate This Canada Day with Aspen Grove Counselling

As we mark Canada Day, we take time to honour the beauty, diversity, and resilience of this land and its peoples. At Aspen Grove Counselling, we recognize that this day can hold different meanings for many—especially for Indigenous communities whose histories and lived experiences must be acknowledged with respect and care.

We invite you to join us in reflecting on the past, embracing the present, and fostering a future rooted in healing, unity, and mutual understanding.

This Canada Day, let’s celebrate our country and recognize the importance of reconciliation and personal growth. Whether today is a time of celebration, reflection, or both, know that you are not alone on your journey.

We're here to support you with compassion, insight, and connection.

🌿 Together, let’s honour the land, its First Peoples, and the strength within each of us.

For many living with PTSD, sleep can be one of the hardest parts of recovery. Nightmares, hypervigilance, and insomnia often make rest feel impossible.

Thankfully, there are effective tools available.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Nightmares (CBT-N) helps clients reimagine and change distressing dreams—reducing their frequency and emotional intensity.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) targets the unhelpful patterns that fuel sleeplessness, helping people fall asleep more easily and stay asleep longer.

These approaches are evidence-based, trauma-informed, and can transform your nights and your days.

At Aspen Grove Counselling, we support healing that includes healthy, peaceful sleep.

June 27th is PTSD Awareness Day—a day to shine a light on the journey of healing from trauma. While individual therapy is well-known, did you know there's an effective approach that involves both partners?

Cognitive Behavioral Conjoint Therapy (CBCT) for PTSD is a specialized form of therapy that helps couples work together to reduce PTSD symptoms. It focuses on improving communication, rebuilding trust, and strengthening emotional bonds—because recovery doesn’t have to happen alone.

At Aspen Grove Counselling, we understand that trauma affects relationships. CBCT can help couples restore connection while navigating the path to wellness.

Self-Care Reminder: Micro-Moments Matter
You don’t need a whole day off to care for yourself. Try one of these today:

1. Step outside and breathe deeply for 60 seconds
2. Place your hand on your heart and say, “I’m doing my best.”
3. Take a break from screens for 10 minutes
4. Sip a warm drink slowly and mindfully
5. Stretch your arms toward the sky and roll your shoulders

Even the smallest acts of self-kindness help soothe your nervous system.

You deserve a moment to just be.

Honouring Two-Spirit People in Canada

Today, on June 21, we honour the strength, wisdom, and resilience of Indigenous Peoples across Turtle Island.

We also recognize and uplift Two-Spirit people—a sacred identity held in many Indigenous cultures that embodies both masculine and feminine spirits. Before colonization, Two-Spirit people often held respected roles as healers, mediators, caregivers, and knowledge keepers.

At Aspen Grove Counselling, we acknowledge the intergenerational trauma caused by colonization and the ongoing journey of reconciliation. We also commit to celebrating gender and cultural diversity in all its forms.

Let this day be one of learning, reflection, and respect.

Today, We honour the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.

We recognize the strength and resilience of Indigenous communities and the importance of creating space for healing, truth, and culturally safe care.

As helpers, we continue to listen, learn, and work toward reconciliation — in our practice and in our hearts.

To all Indigenous clients, families, and communities:
We see you. We respect you. We walk beside you.

Today we celebrate all fathers, father-figures, and caregivers — and we also hold space for those for whom this day is complicated.

At Aspen Grove Counselling, we support men and parents navigating stress, ADHD, identity, grief, or simply the everyday weight of showing up for others.

Whatever Father’s Day means to you, we see you. You’re not alone.

🧡 June is National Indigenous History Month 🧡

At Aspen Grove Counselling, we honour the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.

We also acknowledge the ongoing impact of colonization, intergenerational trauma, and systemic barriers to mental health care.

As helpers and healers, we are committed to providing culturally safe, trauma-informed, and inclusive support — and to listening, learning, and unlearning every day.

To Indigenous clients, colleagues, and community members:
We see you. We honour your strength. We walk with you in solidarity.

🌈 Pride is More Than a Month — It's a Celebration of Identity, Resilience, and Care

At Aspen Grove Counselling, we honour and celebrate the vibrant diversity of the LGBTQ2S+ community — this month and every month.

We know that exploring your identity can be both beautiful and challenging, especially while navigating mental health concerns or ADHD. The overlap of neurodivergence and q***r identity is real — and often under-recognized.

That’s why we offer inclusive, affirming, and trauma-informed care that sees all of you. Whether you're coming out, questioning, neurodivergent, or just needing a safe space to be heard — you are welcome here.

You deserve care that affirms your truth.
