Feeling into your body, know yourself, understand yourself... understand how your body responds... to a yes, and to a no. Once you start to practise this, you will become more familiar with what feels good to you/for you and what does not. Then all you have to do is honour that!

HEALING HAPPENS IN THE NERVOUS SYSTEM

Learning to live within the parasympathetic nervous system is key to healing. This is the rest/digest state, and it takes practice and conscious effort to be here. We are often stuck in the sympathetic state, the fight/flight/freeze state where we are in survival mode. When we are stuck in this state the body feels and responds as though it is under attack. This messes with our hormones, our immune system and generally impacts the health of our whole body. We can't chill out, we are stressed, anxious, overwhelmed and depressed. We get sick, fat, inflamed and irritable. This is no way to live. We need to relearn some new ways of coping, find new healthy habits that will help to balance the nervous system, help us to relax, and start to heal.

It can stop nutrients from being absorbed, cause weight gain, and lead to various diseases including colon cancer. You can create accountability by checking in with a friend every day to talk about healthful eating. You’re more likely to exercise if you’ve made a plan to walk with a friend or scheduled a workout with a personal trainer. You can create public accountability by declaring your intentions and goals out loud to friends, family or even on social media.
