Sometimes the biggest changes go completely unseen!

In the last week, I added air conditioning to my air exchange system, and after 5 long months of working daily on a $500 Costco massage table that I’ve had since 2017, I finally got my first electric table!

This bad boy has an upgraded puffy face cradle and a locking mechanism without an annoying bar that ends up in your chin!

Send me a pm to get booked!

Hey everyone!! Radio silence over here, my apologies! I have been mixing in construction and politics into my daily routine and am currently trying to figure out what our family baseball schedule is going to look like!!

For this reason, I have not added anything to my schedule after 5pm, but this doesn’t mean I’m not ever available!! Send me a message to see if we can figure something out for an evening/weekend!!

Why is Balance Important?

People are always asking what i mean when i say "A balanced body doesn't hurt", and i have a few different answers.

The body is a balanced system, with tensile force pulling equally in opposite directions. If you broke your humerus, and were stuck in a cast for 8 weeks with your elbow flexed, when the cast was removed, you would be unable to straighten your arm. Remove the broken bone from the equation, and you would be left with the same situation, due to an extremely tight/shortened bicep. You may not feel pain in the bicep upon extension of the elbow, but in the opposing muscles, which must stretch to accommodate this imbalance.

This is why after years of "head down, shoulder forward" office posture, we get pain in our back across the shoulder blades. Not due to tight muscles in the back, rather stretched muscles that are accommodating the tight anterior neck and chest muscles that oppose them!

Send me a message to figure out how to achieve this balance today!

Less than three months ago I started building this space. After some tinkering, building a few pieces of furniture, and getting everything dialed in, I’m ready to show everyone what I’ve dreamt into reality! DM me for booking, direct billing available for most insurance companies!

Some thoughts on a slower week

With a bit of free time during the past few days, I decided to take some scraps from a few old projects and make some dust.

These pieces are made with cherry, hickory, walnut, tiger wood, and ash, all working together towards a common goal.

To me, it is a symbol of unity and a reminder that everyone is welcome, no matter the colour of your skin, who you worship, love, or how you live, everyone is welcome here.

It can also be your reminder that no matter who sees you as scrap, or how broken you feel, with a little time and a little effort, you can always put the pieces back together!

And here’s your reminder that your back doesn’t have to hurt from shovelling away yesterday’s blizzard!

About time to officially introduce myself to the Facebook community!

My name is Ty Mikolas, and I have been practicing massage since 2016. I decided to learn massage, selfishly, after a life changing back injury suffered in my previous career as a drywaller. My original goal was to take a single year of school, fix my back, and “go back to work”, as I used to say.

Before my injury, I had believed massage was something women got done after a pedicure, and had no idea the healing powers that we all possess. It is now my mission to break those stereotypes, and show the world that a massage centred pain management treatment can be on par with or exceed the expectations society has of chiropractors, physiotherapists, or any other health practitioners available.

I practice deep tissue massage with active client engagement, using range of motion as a constant reassessment for muscle tension, combined with cupping, scraping, and other active, passive, and resisted stretching techniques for myofascial release.

When the appropriate technique is applied in the appropriate manner, balance is restored in the body and tension is removed from the joints, allowing them to find their ideal alignment.

Always remember, a balanced body doesn’t hurt!

You’re in safe hands with an RMT!

Did you know, in order to claim the title Registered Massage Therapist, you need more than just the education?

All RMT’s are required to be enrolled and in good standing with a recognized massage association in order to keep their title! This means constant continuing education, bi-annual criminal record checks, and an annual oath pledging commitment to serve our clients best interests and to practice with respect, dignity, and compassion.

I fulfill this duty by giving every minute of every treatment the attention it deserves, and by using my entire skillset with all tools available, for no extra cost!

Seeing an RMT is about more than just having your service direct billed, it’s about knowing you’re in safe hands!

One of the greatest benefits of having a home office is the flexibility it allows for in my schedule!

I have opened my schedule for the next few months, with availability starting at 9 am and last opening as late as 8pm most days!

As I look to establish consistent hours in the future these openings will slim down, what are some time slots that fit with your schedule?

**note - due to children in the home, 3-4:30pm can be a bit chaotic in the entrance, anyone looking for a child-free experience may prefer booking at another time!

I often get asked the question “What makes your style of treatment so unique?”

In short, I am constantly running the affected joint through all ranges of motion, using that range of motion as a guide to the next tight or shortened muscle. When the target muscle is identified, I have my client engage that specific group of shortened fibres, while I actively stretch and apply a consistent pressure to it. In the split seconds after the muscle is relaxed, this technique immediately loosens the target muscle and brings the client one step closer to balance.

I have extensive training in Lensen, which enables me to manipulate and correct the alignment or positioning of many misaligned joints in a way similar to a chiropractor, minus the “high velocity” techniques.

These treatments require constant communication, some effort on the clients end, and trade temporary pain for long term relief.

While this type of treatment is my specialty, I understand that it is not everyone’s cup of tea, so for those of you looking for something a little less painful, who maybe just want an hour away from your kids, or a safe place to rant about a co-worker (protected by FOIPA, direct billing AND cheaper than a therapist), I have added relaxation massages to my schedule!

If you’re looking to book, or want a detailed explanation of how I can help with your pain, send me a message or book online at
