Ubuntu Therapeutic Services

Ubuntu Therapeutic Services We offer compassionate Virtual Therapeutic Supports to all Nova Scotians.

Ubuntu is most commonly translated to - I am, because we are - emphasizing the importance of recognizing that well-being is directly linked to community and life experiences.

As therapists, we trade judgment for respectful curiousity.

We aren't here to be the "moral police." Our job is to be investigators of the human experience. When we drop the need to label a behavior as "good" or "bad," we can finally see the function behind it.

Why this matters:
- Judgment leads to shame.
- Shame leads to hiding.
- Curiosity leads to understanding.
- Understanding leads to healing.

Our goal is to support you, in a safe, trusting, and judgment-free environment.

We are thrilled to announce the creation and rollout of our program Foundations of Fatherhood.

This program is meant to both recognize, and bridge the gap in services for any caregiver who identifies as a male. Designed to be inclusive, practical, and unique, Foundations of Fatherhood seeks to encourage open discussion, while also providing relevant and applicable activities to aid caregivers in their day-to-day lives. We aim to address barriers for all, offering support with transportation, a free meal, and additional supports when available to continue to provide accessible services to all.

At Ubuntu Therapeutic Services, we work from the belief that "I am because we are", and with that said, giving back to the community through FREE programs and services is a commitment we will continue to follow through on.

We ask that you please share this poster and information to help us in reaching all who could benefit from Foundations of Fatherhood.

This would not be possible without the support of you, and specifically the incredible team at the Kings County Family Resource Center.

This is just the beginning.

To the women breaking generational cycles, rewriting the rules, setting new boundaries, and reclaiming their narratives: we see you

Today, we celebrate the grandmothers, granddaughters, mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, and all who identify as women. We recognize the tenacity it takes to stand firm in your worth and lead a life on your own terms. Happy International Women’s Day!

Happy National Social Work Month! This March, we celebrate 100 years of the Canadian Association of Social Workers by reflecting on social work’s history, and reimagining the future of social work in Canada.

It is essential to reflect on our roots to build a better future, together. Ubuntu teaches us that our future is a shared design. I am, because we are.

From the music in our ears to the fashion on the streets, the influence of Black culture is global and undeniable. But you can’t love the culture without honoring the people.

Black History Month is a reminder that the progress we enjoy today was bought with the courage of yesterday.

It’s a time to educate ourselves on the stories that weren't always taught in the classroom, and to recognize that the work of equity and justice is a relay race, not a sprint.

Healing isn't just about what happens inside the therapy room; it’s also about the world we step into when we leave it.

Today is World Day of Social Justice, a reminder that systemic change is a form of collective self-care.

We cannot 'breathe' our way out of systemic oppression, but we can work together to dismantle the barriers to wellbeing. 🌎✨

Here at Ubuntu Therapeutic Services, family is what it's all about.

Ubuntu teaches that our "wholeness" depends on our family and those around us. For some, family looks like a mother, father, sibling(s), grandmother or nana, grandpa or grampy, or any combination thereof.

For others, it can look very different. It may not be your biological family that provides that connection, and Ubuntu both recognizes and embraces this. Sometimes, family is the friend who show ups at 2 AM when you need them, the mentors who guide you, and the "aunties" or "uncles" who aren't related by DNA but by soul.

Today we reflect, recognize, and appreciate all those who continue to support us, love us, and ensure that we feel special on a daily basis.

Take a moment today to reach out to those who form your family and let them know how much they matter. Happy Family Day!

Emotions are data, not directives. 📊

When we understand why we feel what we feel, we stop reacting and start responding. That shift is where your confidence lives.

Instead of asking "What should I do for self-care?" try asking: "What is my body asking for right now?"

Sometimes the answer is a nap. Sometimes it’s a walk. Sometimes it’s a hard conversation you’ve been avoiding. Self-care is less about a checklist and more about an ongoing conversation with yourself. 🌿

Happy International Day of Education!
Today, we recognize education as a fundamental human right. I am, because we are - and we are, because of the knowledge embedded in all those with whom we interact.
