What a full and busy day yesterday was! But its beginning had to be my absolute favourite!
Four lovely people had asked me to Guide them on a Forest Therapy Walk (a first-time experience for each of them) along the Loring Deer Yard Trail.
As relative newbies yet to this area, I had heard of this trail but hadn’t yet had the pleasure of visiting. Being a predominantly Hardwood Forest, I’m quite glad my first visit there was an unseasonably warm Autumn Morning! 🍁
The sun was able to filter through the trees enough to light up the colourful leaves in the canopy and the Forest Floor, but that ~50% intact canopy also provided the shade I most definitely appreciated. ☀️🌳🥰🍂
As I always do, I arrived well ahead of the Participants and got to spend some time on the Forest on my own first, to introduce myself, to catch invitations, to learn what that morning’s trail conditions were like, and to feel better oriented overall…
There was a Woodpecker of some variety drumming softly in an Old Growth Birch Tree, and I noticed the sound of the drumming was different than usual when pressing my ear (and camera) against the tree’s large trunk!
I also noticed a very deep Moose Track (sorry, not the frozen dairy variety 😅) in the mud at the edge of a creek…. There were so many colourful Leaves above and below, and the Smell and Sound of the layers of fallen dried ones recalled many various Autumn memories as I stepped carefully through, inevitably crunching them…
Once the Participants arrived, we were able to share a nice introduction, and touch a bit on the Nature, Origins, the anticipated Flow and potential Benefits of a Guided Forest Therapy Walk.
An hour never feels like enough time, and after a few Guided Invitations, though we had planned to be wrapped up by noon, the Participants and I were enjoying ourselves and the Space so well, the lack of rush to leave was a shared feeling, for sure. ☺️
I had brought some of our Forest & Farm Elderflower Cordial to share during our final moment together, and was delighted to learn that it was again a new experience for three of the four Participants. 🥂
My bees and their care-needs were calling me back home however, and I hope the Participants had a glorious rest of their walk on that Loop Trail! I had a wonderful time with that Forest yesterday morning, and will absolutely return there soon with my family. ❤️
