Anatomy Obsessed

Eryn Freeman Athletic Therapy was launched in the Spring of 2018, prior to that I worked in Victoria BC at a multi-disciplinary clinic for 4 years...Where it all started out though, was back in University when I took an Anatomy course that spiked my interest in the human body. At the time I was taking Visual Arts and Physical Education. I became obsessed with Anatomy and soon after found Athletic Therapy. In my first year of my Bachelor of Athletic Therapy, I remember dying to take the 3rd year anatomy courses to get deeper into the layers of the body, my inner nerd had been tapped!

Growing up I was a very active child. Nature was my therapy and I found sport in nature as my outlet. I grew up mountain biking and horse jumped competitively. As a horse jumper I sustained many injuries and never got the care I was looking for. Ultimately I chose to quit riding, my back was always sore and I had been thrown more times than I can remember. I wish I had known then what I know now about injury rehabilitation, prevention and recovery. Soon after starting my Bachelor, I got Athletic Therapy treatment and learnt how to strengthen my core correctly, and my back pain went away. In my 20’s I played high level soccer and now enjoy competing in enduro mountain biking, and recreationally snowboarding, hiking and surfing.

I have a passion for what I do and love sharing my knowledge with people. I hope to make a positive impact on peoples lives and help you reach whatever goal you may have. I especially love working with young athletes providing them with information on injury rehab and prehab which I never got. I have also worked with older populations in cardiac rehabilitation and chronic disease management. I find this work very rewarding, and get to witness so much progress with these clients, whom I see move from 3 minutes walking on a treadmill to 30.

I have also developed the “Kinetic Core Series” which is inspired by Developmental Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) out of Prague and my other post grad studies. I have taken many of their courses and am now a Certified Exercise Trainer in DNS. I also apply Functional Range conditioning (FRC) and the latest scientific research in my approach to spinal health and core stability. Visit my website to see what date the next series will start.
