This poster was created many years ago, during a time when I was learning to find my way back to hope.

Its message still speaks to me today:
Mental illness will not come out of the shadows unless people speak out.

Last night the moon rose heavy on the horizon,
wide and flushed in quiet red.

Not because it had grown —
but because we were close enough to feel it.

Even in shadow, it glowed.
Even in darkness, it held its light.

A reminder that what feels immense
is sometimes only a shift in perspective.

And that we, too, can stay luminous
while passing through our own seasons of shadow. 🌕✨

A quiet sanctuary of ducks in Knowlton.
Grateful for this peaceful moment with my mom. 🤍

Some drifted slowly in the water.
Many simply rested on the ice it has become.

Watching them — moving when needed, resting when needed — felt like a gentle reminder.
The nervous system softens when it senses safety, rhythm, and stillness.

Sometimes regulation looks like doing less. ‘’Take a slow breath with this 🤍”

7–9 hours of sleep.

That’s what most adults need for optimal mental health. We were reminded of this during the push-up challenge — and it stuck with me.

Sleep isn’t lazy.
It isn’t indulgent.
It’s foundational.

When we’re rested:
✨ our nervous system regulates more easily
✨ our mood stabilizes
✨ our thoughts are clearer
✨ our resilience increases

Chronic sleep deprivation can heighten anxiety, lower frustration tolerance, and deepen low mood. We ask so much of ourselves during the day — but recovery happens at night.

Luna seems to understand this well 🐾
Rest is not weakness. It’s wisdom.

Tonight, consider this your gentle permission to go to bed earlier.

Watching birds in the backyard, I notice how they meet us halfway—fright softens when we move gently, flight slows when we offer choice. Nature whispers: trust grows in stillness. 🕊️💚
