Friday the 13th - A Sacred Day of the Goddess

Contrary to modern superstition, Friday the 13th is an auspicious and sacred day long associated with the Divine Feminine. In ancient times, this day was revered as a celebration of the Goddess and her natural rhythms.

The rise of patriarchal systems, particularly through the spread of Christianity, sought to suppress Goddess-centered traditions, replacing them with doctrines that devalued feminine wisdom, intuition, and cyclical living. But these ancient ways were never truly lost. They live on in our collective consciousness, our ancestral memory, and in the practices many still honor today.

The number 13, now often seen as "unlucky," was once held as holy. It mirrors the number of lunar cycles in a year, as well as the average number of menstrual cycles a woman experiences annually, deeply linked to the mysteries of life, death, and rebirth.

Today, many are remembering and reclaiming the sacredness of Friday the 13th. It is a powerful portal to honor the Goddess, the moon, and the feminine current that pulses through all life.

It's a New Moon in Pisces

The final sign of the Zodiac. Representing completion, surrender and unity, Pisces urges us to dream bigger and of better ways of living. Pisces is surely Spiritual, but don't let that bypass our humanity. Spirit lives within our human bodies, experiencing consciousness through relationship. We expand our consciousness through creative and non-conventional ways of living. Pisces implores us to accept our different forms of expression because it is how we evolve. We need diversity AND acceptance. Would you really like to live in a world where we are all exactly the same? It would not last very long.
With a stellium in Pisces (meaning there are multiple planets hanging out in the sign) the energy is amplified. We do not have all the answers and we don't need to. We need to learn how to surrender to what is most important. The Soul that exists in every one of us, and it's unique expression is a part of the greater whole. We need to re-member not dismember parts of this whole. Put aside our learned biases and tend to the parts of humanity that are hurting. Some say Pisces is unconditional love - release of hatred and small-mindedness and opening to new possibilities. That is Pisces, and that energy is at our fingertips to harness.

After 10 weeks of planetary retrograde, Mars will be turning direct on Feb 23rd. Mars governs our ambition, drive, passion and momentum. When in retrograde, it can feel like we are stuck or lacking motivation. This specific retrograde took Mars into the sign of Cancer, where He is in detriment. Meaning, Mars is at his weakest in this sign. This has been ongoing for the past 10 weeks. Have you felt the sluggishness/irritability/stagnation during this time? You are not alone! Good news is, we will almost certainly feel a shift in energy in the next week as Mars finally turns direct and starts moving forward. We may feel ignited in energy and like we are gaining traction again. Just in time for Mercury and Venus to go retrograde in the beginning of March. This means matters of the mind and heart will take their turn for re-evaluation and reform. Retrogrades earn a bad reputation, but they are essential periods of time to stop and assess different aspects of ourselves. They provide lessons and wisdom that only can be gained with self evaluation and hitting the pause button in our busy lives.

As you feel your life force return with Mars turning direct, make way for a self study on how you are doing mentally and emotionally. This will set you up for success in the warm months ahead of us.

Collaborating with a brand New Moon, this allows for the softest and most inward beginning of this Lunar Year. Let this cadence set the pace for this year ahead. The themes will be much gentler, cautious and introspective than the Dragon Year before.

The Sun has entered Capricorn, and the Moon is in Virgo today. Big, Earthy, Grounding energy to usher us into the final week of the year. The Saturnian nature of Capricorn invites us to take stock of what this year has taught us. Mercurial Virgo implores a reorganizing of our priorities. Can you make space for devotion to your well-being? With 4 planets still in retrograde, this is still very much a time of reevaluation and rejuvenation. How can you make the end of this year ever so soft and receive a gentle landing into 2025. We are in the tail end of the Dragon Year, and Snake is arriving to greet us. Snake loves the soft and gentle approach, so how can we meet ourselves, and Snake with that in mind and heart?

Full Moon in Ta**us

Full Moons are almost always a time of intense, active energy. Our animal bodies are attuned to the effects of the full moon, which can often disrupt sleep routines. With the sky illuminated, many animals are more likely to travel and hunt during a full moon. We can also observe a heightening of emotions or an awareness of neglected parts of ourselves during a full moon. Almost as if the Sun is illuminating our most intimate aspects of Self, which is what the Moon represents in Astrology.

With this Full Moon in Ta**us, the themes of working on Oneself and taking care of one's physical needs are highlighted. Ta**us rules the physical body, the senses, and material possessions. Ta**us likes to be really self-sufficient, and sometimes a little "extra" when it comes to materialism. When it comes down to it, Ta**us energy wants us to be well taken care of, so that we can be fully grounded and present in the moment. This Full Moon is a great time to become really still and meditate on your physical body, do some inner searching of what needs tending to in your life, connect to your senses and allow for Pleasure to be your guide. As a fixed Earth sign, Ta**us offers us a moment of pause, to really appreciate this fleshy home we embody. How can you take care of your needs? What needs attention within?

There is an aspect of unexpected shifts with this Moon, as there is a conjunction with Uranus. Uranus is all about improvement and liberation. What in our lives needs an upgrade? You may notice the desire to let go of unhealthy habits, or poor choices that aren't benefiting your body. This aspect will have us diving deep within to find out what is truly is of value to us and what is blocking us from receiving our needs and desires. Often, there are things out of our control that can cause such blockages, but sometimes there is a belief or notion that stands in our way of receptivity. Uranus will help us uncover any of that.

Happy Halloween and Blessed Samhain!

It's Witches New Year, and it has always felt more like New Year than Gregorian New years!

Last night, we honored our beloved dead in an online Seance with my Homing Coven. It was pure magick. A potent reminder that the dead are very much alive and well, with us, and grateful for our presence. Also, how incredible it is to join forces with other witches from all over the world to engage in ceremony? What a time to be alive (with our beloved dead) 🖤

Happy Moonday 🌗

Did you know the days of the week have energetic ties with the Cosmic deities? Monday is ruled by the Moon, Tuesday by Mars, Wednesday by Mercury, Thursday by Jupiter, Friday by Venus, Saturday by Saturn and Sunday by the Sun. I like to call upon these planetary rulers to assist me in my day to day rituals with ease and presence. For example, today being Monday and ruled by the Moon, I take the day to honour my inner emotional needs. I allow for rest and ease so that my intuition can flow and be heard. I even dress accordingly, utilizing colour, texture and adornmemts as offerings on my body as an altar to the Goddess.

Today, with the Moon in Virgo and the Sun in Scorpio, I am practicing devotion to my deepest values. Samhain approaches this week, which is the Celtic tradition of honoring the dead. I am making preparations to observe and celebrate those who have passed over. I will be in ceremony with my online Coven - Homing Coven - on October 30th via Zoom.
