Fireside Counselling is a non-profit organization within the Brightside Integrated Health clinic. It is an affordable option for clients who do not have insurance, and for whom the cost of private therapy is a barrier. Counselling is provided by select Masters of Social Work and Masters of Counselling Psychology practicum students, under the supervision of licensed Brightside therapists.
Meet one of Fireside's counselling interns - Heather Shreve!
Heather is currently completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition (Dietetics) from Mount Saint Vincent University and brings over 20 years of experience as a Registered Dietitian. With a strong interest in the connection between mental health and nutrition, Heather integrates her diverse expertise to support clients in a holistic way.
Her therapeutic style is integrative and client-centered, drawing from polyvagal theory, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and somatic approaches to meet each client where they are. Heather is committed to creating a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental space that fosters healing, growth, and resilience.
Outside of her counselling work, Heather enjoys movement practices like dance, yoga, and weight training, and finds renewal in nature, especially during the warmer months.
Heather is currently welcoming individual clients (ages 10 and up), as well as couples and families.
