LETS TALK GENETICS 🤔
For some people, tooth discolouration is not directly caused by poor oral hygiene habits such as lack of good brushing and flossing. A lot of people understand that yellowing teeth can be caused by smoking, coffee, tea, age, as well as other factors.
But did you know genetics can also play a role in the colour of your teeth?
Take this client for instance- she has a beautifully white smile. Her before photo looks pretty good! A little bit of coffee and tea stain perhaps, but a great starting point already.
This clients after photo looks amazing as well- not a significant difference in tooth colour but her end results is a whiter and brighter smile!
As you can see through the many before & after photos in my page…everyone has such different end results! This is where genetics can play a role.. some people have naturally more thicker or whiter enamel. Some clients have thinner, more yellow enamel. Not everyone is going to get the super white Hollywood smile due to many factors but one of them being genetics.
I like to use the analogy that some people tan really well in the summer and others can sit outside all day and remain pale or burn easily. This is kind of like whitening to be honest! Some clients have an enamel composition that really takes well to whitening, and others may not notice that big difference- everyone is so different!!
The goal is to get every client more confident in their smile, and to get their teeth the whitest and brightest we can while using safe and effective products that do not cause pain or negative longterm effects on our enamel. 🤍
