OUR COMMUNITY IS WHAT WE MAKE OF IT

Our Charitable Society was created and authorized on September 20, 1994. This registered charitable organization is 100% run and organized by our firefighters who donate their time to assist our fundraising efforts. Our mandate is provide direct support to those in need within the community of Delta, specifically those suffering from medical or financial distress, as well as collect and disburse funds to charities and organizations within Delta as well as a few select provincial and national charities whose cause is near and dear to our heart. Our firefighters can be found at many local events happening throughout Delta during the year, both raising money for our own initiatives as well as supporting other organizations with their fundraising endeavours.

🔥 JANUARY is Firefighter Cancer Awareness Month - a time to recognize a reality our fire service faces every day.

🚨 In 2025, nearly 80% of IAFF line-of-duty deaths were due to occupational cancer.

🇨🇦 In Canada, it’s a staggering 94%. Thanks to MP Sherry Romanado’s Bill C-224, this month is officially dedicated to awareness & action.

🔥 Firefighters are exposed to carcinogens on nearly every call.
🦺 Cancer is now the LEADING cause of line-of-duty death in our profession.

We are concluding our December Days of Giving with a final donation of $7,500 to in Delta, BC.

Pony Pals provides vital therapeutic riding and equine-assisted programs for individuals with physical, cognitive, and emotional disabilities. Their work fosters independence and physical development through the unique bond between horse and rider. We are proud to support their commitment to improving lives in our community.

The Heron Hospice Society provides essential end-of-life care, grief counselling, and compassionate support to individuals and families in our community. Their work ensures that no one has to navigate the journey of terminal illness or loss alone. We are proud to support an organization dedicated to providing dignity, comfort, and peace to those who need it most. Building a stronger community, one hamper at a time. We are proud to announce our $5,000 donation to the Delta Secondary School Hampers program. For the second year in a row, we are honored to support this essential initiative that provides relief to families throughout Delta.

Our contribution this year helped fund grocery gift cards, essential food items, and warm clothing for the season. We believe that no family should have to go without during the holidays, and we are grateful to play a part in providing these necessities to those who need them most.

We want to share a sincere thank you to the organizers at DSS for the tireless work they do to ensure everyone in our community is taken care of. It is a privilege to support this program and help foster a stronger, more connected Delta.

The Delta Firefighters Charitable Society is pleased to support the
with a $7,500 contribution to assist in their essential operations.

Transportation is a critical but often overlooked component of cancer treatment. VCDS bridges this gap by providing complimentary, door-to-door service for patients throughout Greater Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, ensuring that physical or financial barriers never stand in the way of life-saving care. Their network of over 450 volunteers facilitates approximately 38,000 trips annually, covering more than one million kilometers to support neighbors in need. By offering this service at no cost, they eliminate the significant stress of navigating traffic, finding parking, and managing fuel costs during an incredibly difficult time.

This donation will go directly toward supporting the volunteer drivers who ensure that Delta residents and patients across the region can focus entirely on their recovery rather than the logistics of getting to the clinic. As firefighters, we are proud to partner with an organization that exemplifies the same values of service, reliability, and community-led dedication that we strive for every day.

We are thrilled to announce that as part of our December Day of Giving, we have donated $7,500 to the Reach Child & Youth Development Society. Based right here in Delta, Reach does extraordinary work providing heart-centered programs and clinical services for children with special needs and their families. From speech and occupational therapy to inclusive preschool programs, they ensure that every child in our community has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Beyond their professional impact, we want to extend a massive thank you to the Reach team for their incredible spirit of service; they have been familiar, friendly faces at our various events all year long, generously giving their own time to help our initiatives succeed. Today, the Delta Firefighters Charitable Society is proud to announce two $5,000 donations to help fill plates across our city. These funds have been awarded to the South Delta Food Bank and Guru Nanak in North Delta ().

The work these organizations do is vital, especially during the winter months. We are grateful for the opportunity to support their dedication to feeding our neighbors from North to South.
