“Strength as Support” 💪 ✨

In Chinese Medicine, the Kidneys govern vitality, hormones, stress resilience, and our ability to adapt. The entire back body runs along the Kidney & Bladder meridians.

Intentional back training helps circulate Qi, support posture, and prevent depletion — especially for clients experiencing fatigue, burnout, or chronic stress.

Strength work isn’t about pushing harder — it’s about creating enough support in the body so the nervous system can relax.

It’s the same principle I use in nutrition:

👉we don’t force, we support the system so it no longer has to overcompensate.

Holiday Overindulgence Tip ✨

One of the most effective ways to prevent overeating during the holidays isn’t willpower — it’s maintaining regular meal structure. When we skip meals or “save calories,” blood sugar drops, hunger hormones rise, and cravings (especially for sugar) intensify.

Starting your day similar to this “cozy berry porridge” something naturally sweet and high in fibre helps keep blood sugar steady, curbs sugar cravings, and leaves you feeling satisfied rather than deprived… an effective way to reduce the urge to overindulge 😉

This approach supports stable energy, better appetite regulation, and a more mindful enjoyment of festive foods — something I encourage with clients year round, not just at Christmas. ❤️🎄

Happy Christmas Eve!

“Small Wins” ✨

Some days the weather isn’t ideal.
The motivation isn’t loud.
The conditions aren’t perfect.

And still—you go.

Today’s win wasn’t about pace, distance, or doing it “right.”
It was about choosing movement anyway.
About seeing beauty in the in-between.

And that’s how real change happens.

Not by overhauling your whole life overnight.
Not by being all-in or all-out.

But by practicing one small choice consistently.

The same applies to nutrition.
You don’t need a complete reset.
You don’t need perfection.

Maybe today it’s:
• adding one nourishing food
• drinking more water
• eating one meal with intention
• stopping when you’re satisfied

Practice one thing.
Let it feel doable.
Let it repeat.

Small wins stack.
And over time, they become a lifestyle.

Progress lives in what you practice… especially on the imperfect days.

“Client Highlight” ✨

Fixing microbial health doesn’t have to be hard — or boring.

Today’s post is a repost from a client currently on an intestinal protocol for Candida. Candida can contribute to a wide range of GI symptoms, and the nutrition side of treatment is often labeled as “restrictive.”

My goal within my practice is simple:

✔️  support gut healing
✔️  reduce symptoms
✔️  make every meal something you actually enjoy

Because optimizing your health should feel sustainable… not punishing 😉

“Spring Cleaning” 🌱🍏🍋

Spring is the season of renewal — and that includes your body.

Just like we clean our homes, our systems also thrive with a seasonal reset. A gentle spring cleanse can do wonders for your liver and gallbladder — two of your body’s main detox pathways.

This is where my Moringa Detox Smoothie comes in….

Moringa is a powerhouse plant rich in antioxidants, chlorophyll, and essential nutrients. It supports natural detoxification, reduces inflammation, and helps nourish the liver while gently encouraging waste elimination.

You may benefit from a gentle cleanse if you’re experiencing:
• Bloating or sluggish digestion
• Skin breakouts or dull complexion
• Brain fog or low energy
• PMS or hormonal imbalances
• Cravings for sugar or carbs
• Bad breath or body odor
• Irritability or mood swings

Spring is nature’s invitation to lighten the load — inside and out.

“Guilt-Free Cookies” for Balanced Blood Sugar & Hormones 🍪✨

Did you know that blood sugar balance is one of the most overlooked keys to hormonal health?

Frequent blood sugar spikes can lead to insulin resistance, which disrupts hormone balance, triggers fatigue, cravings, mood swings, and worsens conditions like PCOS, adrenal fatigue, and menopause symptoms.

One easy swap for better insulin control? Ditch refined sugar and choose natural, low-glycemic alternatives like monk fruit!

✨ Monk fruit benefits:
✔️ Zero impact on blood sugar
✔️ Rich in antioxidants for metabolic health
✔️ Won’t disrupt gut bacteria or increase cravings

“Hi, I’m Alanna Assenza. I’m so excited to officially introduce myself!

I’ve been immersed in holistic nutrition for over a decade, blending principles from Ayurveda, Chinese Medicine, and modern nutrition to help people achieve optimal health. My approach is all about understanding the body’s signals—whether through body, face, or tongue reading—and using food as a powerful tool for balance.

But before I was a practitioner, I was a client myself. Diagnosed with celiac, PCOS, ADHD, and navigating early menopause. Through years of experience (both personal and professional), I’ve resolved my own health challenges and helped countless clients achieve real results—without strict dieting or guesswork.

This space is where I’ll be sharing nutrition insights, recipes, and practical ways to nourish your body in alignment with your unique needs. Whether you’re here to learn, heal your gut, balance hormones, or just feel better in your body… I’m thrilled you’re here.” 🤗🌸

Taste: An Ancient Remedy

“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”

Both Ayurveda and Chinese Medicine share the philosophy that flavor is medicine—each taste plays a role in balancing the body and supporting health.

There are six key tastes in Ayurveda and five in Chinese Medicine, each linked to specific organs and functions:

✔ Sweet – Nourishes, strengthens, and builds tissues
✔ Sour – Stimulates digestion and supports liver function
✔ Salty – Regulates hydration and electrolyte balance
✔ Pungent – Boosts digestion, circulation, and metabolism
✔ Bitter – Detoxifies and stimulates digestion
✔ Astringent (Ayurveda only) – Supports absorption and tones tissues

By mindfully incorporating these flavors into your meals, you create balance from the inside out.

“Your Gut Microbiome & Seasonal Eating”

Spring is almost here, which means it’s time to lighten things up! As the seasons shift, so do our bodies’ needs—now is the perfect time to start incorporating more fresh, raw foods to support digestion and gut health.

I often get asked, “Alanna, what probiotic should I take?” But before jumping to supplements, we need to make sure your gut bacteria have the right fuel to thrive.

Would you want to live somewhere with no food? Of course not! Your gut microbes feel the same way.

Support them by adding:
✔️ Fermented Friends
✔️ Prebiotic-Rich Foods
✔️ Healthy Fats
