Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Medical Office Assistant located in Edmonton, AB. The Medical Office Assistant will manage administrative tasks, including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, maintaining patient records, answering phone inquiries, and ensuring smooth day-to-day office operations. The position also requires familiarity with medical terminology and maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor as the first point of contact for patients.

Qualifications

Proficiency in Phone Etiquette and Appointment Scheduling
Understanding of Medical Terminology and familiarity with Insurance Verification processes
Experience in Administrative Assistance and general office management tasks
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Attention to detail and ability to maintain patient confidentiality
Proficiency in using medical office software and technology is a plus
Experience in medical office administration is preferred

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men.

Risk factors include being > 45 years, having a 1st degree relative with prostate cancer, regular consumption of high-fat diet which includes red meat and dairy product.
Diagnosis is often done via an abnormal digital re**al exam or and elevated PSA levels ( lab bloodwork ) but most cases are asymptomatic. Symptoms when present includes new onset erectile dysfunction, painful urination, difficulty passing out urine, bloody urine and bloody s***m in the ejaculate.In advanced cases patients may present with bone fracture, bone pain and spinal cord compression causing weak or/and painful legs, f***l incontinence, and loss of sensations in legs.
Any of these latter symptoms may be the initial presentation especially for people who do not get regular medical checks
