The single biggest thing you can do for your metabolic health, which translates to reducing body fat and improving how you feel, is eliminate Ultra Processed Food.
UPF isn't just "junk food" like chips and candy. UPF is any food packaged with multiple ingredients. Junk and snack foods are a great start but there are many ultraprocessed foods that are lurking everywhere:
condiments, sauces, and dressings🥘
prepared entrees and side dishes🍜
frozen appetizers🌮
prepared desserts🍰
anything made with flour or sugar🍕
protein bars and shakes🍫
granola bars
crunchy snacks in bags and boxes🥨
sweetened beverages
coffee creamers
flavored nutmixes
yogurt drinks and commercial flavored yogurt
breakfast cereal and instant oatmeal products
The list is endless.
A great new years resolution would be to eat only whole foods. Or only minimally processed such as those with 3 or less ingredients on the label.
Make a big sweeping change and eat only fresh meat and veggies for a month.
Or make incremental changes, like throwing out all your bottled dressing and sauces and make your own; made from scratch salad dressing is ultra simple and so so much better for you.
What UPF reduction goal can you set this year?
